I've been out of the hospital for a couple days now. I haven't spoken to dad since the race. He doesn't know about the crash and I plan to keep it that way.
I'm pulled from my thoughts when my view of the Tv was blocked by a dark figure. Looking up my eyes meet with a pair of amazing blue ones, I smile up at Jesse who leans in placing a kiss on my forehead.
"You alright?" He asks pulling his lips from my skin.
"I'm great!" I smile, pulling him down next to me and into a kiss. Wrapping my arms around his neck as his snake around my waist pulling my chest against his demolishing any space between us. We haven't exactly said if we're dating or not yet. We kind of just act like we are without actually acknowledging it.
He pulls away, opening his eyes and staring into mine trying to catch his breath a huge smile across his face.
"You alright?" I mimic his question from earlier.
"I'm happier then ever before" He smiles kissing me once more before facing back to the tv. Pulling me into his side so my head rests on his chest.
He's soon absorbed into the world of Captain America. I watch his eyes flash from the light of the tv. Lips turning up into a smile as he sees the action occurring on the tv.
I can't get the thought of my mum out of my mind. I look down at my arm, the bracelet caressing my wrist. I begin tracing each letter engraved into the cold metal, holding a piece of my mum I never thought I'd get to see. How is she still alive? She died in a car accident. I was there. I remember it so clearly, almost as if it happened only minutes ago.
She can't just walk into my hospital room. Give me a bracelet and leave.
That's not how it works.
I thought she was dead and she just comes to make sure I'm okay, like I haven't cried myself to sleep multiple times because of her so called death. Now that I know she's alive I need to know more. Still fiddling with the bracelet, accidentally flipping it over. I notice something engraved on this side, I squint my eyes bringing the bracelet closer to my face so I can make out what it is.
A phone number.
"Jess do you know where my phone is?" I ask looking at him but his eyes are still glued to the screen.
"Jess?" I ask again this time touching his face with my finger tips, grabbing his attention.
"Yes babe" He smiles still eyeing the tv.
"Do you know where my phone is?" I repeat.
"Y- yea it's upstairs on the bedside table" He smiles, releasing me knowing I'm wanting to go get it. I stand from the couch making my way up the stairs and into his bedroom. Reaching for my phone and dialling the number on the bracelet making sure to get every digit correct.
Ring
Ring
Ring-
"Hello?" The voice speaks from the other end of the phone.
"Um- Hi whose number is this?" I ask surprised by a males voice.
"Why do you need my name?" The voice questions not answering my original question.
"Your number is engraved into my bracelet." I inform him.
"Oh so your Avery, Martha's daughter" He states rather than asks.
"Yes, now why is your number on my bracelet?" I'm fed up already. I want to find my mum.
"You need to follow my directions and it will lead you to your mum" The man says, his tone changing serious.
Directions? Why couldn't mum just simply say meet me at the park I'll be there at 8. But no she likes to be difficult.
