As the familiar tyres cross the spray painted finish line. The crowd yells before rushing towards the winning car, the racers feet colliding with the concrete streets before pulling her body out of the vehicle.

A smirk rested on her face, a boy is quick to rush towards her. His arms attempting to wrap around her. Pushing him off, her ice blue eyes connect with mine before I know it she's in my arms. The same as how ever race ends.

"You did so amazing Aves!" I smile hugging her tighter. The smile on her face is wide full of pure happiness.

"Why thank you" she laughs pretending to take a bow. Her smile fades for some reason.

"Hold on a minute Jess" I nod, confusion written over my face. My eyes follow her figure as she approaches Lance and some blonde chick hanging off his arm. My feet carry me closer to the situation, close enough so I can hear but not to close so they notice me.

"Lance how come your with this chick?" I pick up on her body language. Her eyelashes fluttering and body leaning into him. The blonde feeling threatened. She knows where Avery sits in this world but still doesn't budge.

"Come on Lance you can do so much better than her" her lips pushed into a pout, hand grazing over his shoulder and body pressed to his side. This isn't Avery. The blonde knows it isn't her place to mess with her. She's gone by the second statement.

Before I think my legs mindlessly carrying me towards the two. Avery still so close to him, I can't help but feel my stomach sink by the minute.

"Aves we need to head home, Scott's gonna figure out we aren't there" her eyes widen in realisation. Bidding her goodbyes to Lance and Skye. Thank god. Grabbing her cash and we're out of the streets once again.

Silence throughout the car, no music it's our way to tune down after a race. It gets everyone so hyped up on adrenalin and that's not what we need when we have to be 'asleep' in ruffly 10 minutes.

"So- um- L- Lance hey?" Why do I have to stutter all the time. Stupid. She glances at me before the road again.

"Oh Jess no! You know that blonde that was on him the entire night?" I nod

"Yeah, well he found her really annoying so I got her to back off"

"Lance didn't seem to think of it like that" I mumble under my breath

"What was that? Sorry I couldn't hear" she smiles

"Oh- it was nothing" shaking my head as I reply we continue our drive making each other laugh.
