If there were ever a moment to die of pure joy and confusion. This would be the perfect moment.

"You can see?" I asked stupidly not knowing what to believe. The sword was humming a low whisper "bu-how?"

"I don't know..." He said looking down at his hands, his arms the world around him before he finally laid his eyes, still the beautiful black they were on me. But they conveyed emotion, There was a moment of wonder in his eyes which flickered to worry "how did you break the curse?"

"What curse?"

"The one that took my sight away..." His words wouldn't compose themselves in my head

"From who?" There was a sudden snap of a twig, my head whipped to the side as a Cursore came running towards me. My anger and frustration boiled within me, I lifted my sword and swung it downwards the red hot ruby sliced through the dull grey flesh of the Cursore, it's body flaming up into nothing. The power of this sword was stronger than I thought. I heard behind me the swish of a blade and the collision of flesh and metal, I turned to find Owen standing over the burnt ashes of the dead Cursore. The forest suddenly became foggy and a dull chill conquered my bones.

"There's too many of them" Owen whispered. More and more Cursores appeared, I remembered what Owen taught me, there were always more hidden than in plane sight

"I think we can take them" I walked forward as three Cursores ran towards me with one swing I slashed their bodies in half, their flesh burning. I felt this sick pleasure in killing these monsters...two by three they all burned and cried, beside me Owen was doing the same, sparing no one and killing all. After about twenty minutes of pure adrenalin fuelled fighting there were no more. It wasn't how I imagined fighting against hundreds of Cursores, there weren't any bodies, no red blood, just puddles of silver liquid. There wasn't any evidence of how powerful we were or how brutal we could be.

"Are you alright?" Owen asks putting a hand on my shoulder

"What has my life become?" I whispered to myself "Fuck! Why is everything so fucked up Owen?" The anger inside me boiled further, I turned around to walk back to the school when Owen grabbed my arm

"I have no idea what you are going through but I believe you are strong. Strong enough to handle anything, any obstacle or problem life throws at you. I don't know what's happening in heaven but I know that hell is going crazy and you and your brother are most wanted. They're waiting for you to lead them..." My brows furrowed in confusion

"How do you know all this?" I asked, he looked at the ground and sighed

"I just know okay" he spoke in a low voice. His head suddenly turned towards the way of the school, I looked in the same direction

"What is it?" I asked

"They're in trouble" he warned as we set off running towards the school, I could hear it then. Burning. Screaming. Sizzling flesh. I picked up my pace, the only thing I could think of was my brother Leo. As the forest cleared I could see the beautiful old campus half caved in on itself and burning with red hot flames, people were jumping out of windows to escape the fire, angels were flying around saving others, witches were using their powers to control the beastly fire

"Everybody in the church now!" The scream of the principle bellowed over the mayhem. Both Owen and I faced each other, I knew he wanted me to go to the church

"I have to find Leo" I started heading to his block

"No" he held my arm "you go to the church and i will find him"

"But-"

"No, you have to be safe. Please just let me look for him..." I nodded slowly, he turned and walked into the flames of my brothers block. I quickly turned and ran for sanctuary, the church.

I stood before the church, in all it's gleaming white gothic glory. But I had a bad feeling about this, all of us in one place makes us vulnerable to whatever started this mayhem. But I went inside nonetheless. I searched the faces for signs of anyone I knew, there were people from my classes and just faces I've seen on campus a lot. But none were my brother, none were Leo or Luca or Rosemary...or Cam. There were injured bodies and dead bodies covered. Oh god please don't let any of them be my brother. Please, please don't let any of them be my brother.

"Ada!" Someone screamed. I turned to find Rosemary kneeling over a body, I ran over to find Luca. His beautiful face bloodied and bruised, and a gaping wound on his side. I kneeled next to him

"Luca...I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry" tears sprung to my eyes but I wiped them away. "I didn't know this would happen"

"Hey, it's not your fault"

"You took me here to protect me and what happened? You get hurt"

"I'll be fine" he coughs violently "it's my time"

"What? What do you mean?"

"I have to die Aid"

"No. No no no! You can't" I cried, tears falling like waterfalls down my cheeks

"I came to tell you something, but the Cursore was in your room an shot me with the blunt arrow. I had to tell you..." He began crying "I'm so sorry"

"What is it?" I asked soothingly

"Your family...they're all gone" the horror filled my heart, and an empty black hole was taking its place

"No" I whispered. I cannot lose my whole family and Luca too

"They killed them Aid, I'm so sorry"

"Don't be Luca. You lost your life protecting my life and my families for reasons I still don't understand" i could see him slipping away I leaned in and whispered in his ears prayer "may The Lord guide your delicate soul into a place of rewarded slumber, your good deeds remembered and sins forgotten" i cried and held his body, kissing his cheek and letting my sobs explode. Rosemary was sobbing behind me as she hugged both me and Lucas dead body. A teacher rushed over and tried to pry us away so they could cover him but we couldn't let go. We wouldn't. I felt a pair of strong arms lift me away

"No! You can't take him! No!" My feeble screams did nothing to prevent them from taking my Luca away. My face collided with a chest as I hugged it tight, the familiar smell of my brother made my sobs subside for a second as I looked up at him, and began to sob again, my brother held me in a grip so tight I was sure I wasn't going to fall apart, but I was so overcome with so may emotions I couldn't help but fall.

And I kept falling, and crying and wishing this could all be a dream.

Please God. Let this be a dream.
