We had been driving for hours and when i asked Luca if we were lost he assured me he knew where he was going, the sun had been long gone and we had been driving in complete darkness for a while i just kept looking ahead trying to find signs of life but i couldn't and after a bit i gave up and closed my eyes.
I was standing on a cliff, the day was bleak and about fifty different shades of blue and grey. I was blindfolded with my hands tied behind my back. I felt scared, but not alone, then with the sweeping wind it felt as though i was watching everything from a close distance. there were hooded figures standing behind me, their faces covered by their dull brown hooded cloaks, their heads bowed and hands in the prayer position with beaded medallion handing at the bottom. But this wasn't the sign of the cross, it was an upside down crucifix shaped to look like Satan's pitchfork. The hooded figures took a step forward, and as if it were routine i did too, the ball and chain attached to my feet, rolling alongside of me, they took another...i followed. And again. And again. With every step they took towards me, i came closer to the edge. Till finally. their last step. I stepped over the edge into the choppy moss grey water. i could feel the ice cold water stabbing my body, the shock sending my heart rate soaring, the ball and chain dragging me down further into the abyss. My blindfold slipped off and my eyes shot open just as i landed at the bottom, if i weren't holding my breath i would have gasped. before my very eyes was...me...my skin pale white, i was wearing a wedding dress and clearly dead. until her eyes opened. My blue eyes practically glowed in the murky depths of the sea. then the now alive me began to swim towards me, her train of her dress trailing behind her and hair floating like beautiful ribbon in the wind. But as she came closer i felt the water freeze the blood in my veins...the pain was, excruciating. My heart began to slow till it was nearly beating no more. Then i felt her hands wrap around my throat and crush my windpipe, the cracking of the bones and muscles being crushed was grousm. i could see the blood trickle from my mouth and stain the water so dead.
When i woke up i wasn't in the car anymore, but in a cosy room with antique furniture and faded yellow wallpaper. i thought for a moment about my dream. i decided not to think about it. I got up out of the bed and got my phone calling Luca,
"Hey" he answered
"Hey, where are you? and where am i?"
"Oh, i thought we should stop and have a little break, explore this nice little town. i'm on my way to your room"
"Okay..er see you in a-" there was a knock at the door, i knew who it was so i hung up and opened the door
"Morning" Luca said holding out a glossy red apple, i smiled and took the apple from him as he entered my room.
"What is his place?" i asked taking a bite of the apple
"Grandma's B&B" i gave him the be serious face, he just laughed "thats the actual name"
"Oh"
"why don't we have a little look round the town?" i looked outside the window, it wasn't snowing or raining, seemed like a good enough day
"Sure" i replied "let me just shower and change" he nodded and sat on my bed picking up a copy of the bible which was on top of the bedside table
"Lets see how our Sebastian did on telling it how it is"
"You know who wrote the bible?" i asked in disbelief
"Well of course i do, he's my brother..."
"Your brother?" the disbelief in my voice rising
"Oh yeah, guess you can tell who was the favourite child" he said squinting at the tiny writing on the too thin bible paper
"I don't believe you..." i said warily as i grabbed a towel and my bag of toiletries and a clean pair of black jeans and a tee shirt, and headed to the bathroom. Once in i started brushing my teeth and washing my face removing all traces of what had happened yesterday. All that was going through my mind was my family. How are they? And Cam...i missed everyone so much. I opened the hot water and stepped in the shower, the water hit my skin making my whole body relax, and i couldn't stop my self from sobbing. Tears would have been soaking my face if it weren't for the shower head, i think i had been in there a good twenty minuets just crying my heart out before i got the courage to stop, mailny because i felt like i was going to throw up but also because i needed to stop feeling sorry for myself. All i was thinking about was my family. Every tear, for them. Every memory made the whole situation seem shittier than it actually is. I turned off the water, got out the shower moisturised and after a bit got dressed, i looked in the mirror before facing Luca, i didn't look like i had been crying till my stomach felt like it was going to drop which was a good thing. I applied a few coats of mascara before going back into the room to dry my hair.
Stepping out of the car in this foreign town felt like stepping into a fairytale land. Everything looked about 100 years old but still in excellent condition, shops and markets, cobblestone roads. Luca's car looked extremely out of place here, but the people of the town looked just like any other people, wearing designer clothes and going about their day, I and followed Luca as he seemed to know where he was going
"Where are we going?" i asked having to jog slightly to keep up with him
"Gonna see an old friend" he said
"You have friends?" i asked in a mocking tone
"Surprisingly yes" he laughed lightly "but this friend is an old one, age wise, so let me do the talking" i rolled my eyes at him.
"What's the name of this place?"
"Woodstock"
"And, how far from this school in Scotland?" i asked, worried itd be a long while
"Err, three days" he looked over at me "Why? you sick of me already?" he said smiling
"No, just wondering" i said nudging him. as i looked back to the cute little town, i saw a familiar blue mini convertible parked outside an antique store, the door of the shop opened, shop bell ringing, out stepped the girl i saw back home. The girl waved to the lady in the store and as she was putting her purchase away she looked up at us, she pulled down her 60s cat eye sunglasses and smiled.
"Luca?" she said walking up to us, her tall skinny frame embracing Luca with a hug
"Rosemary De Alno" he said in a surprised voice, "I thought i recognised that white hair of yours" he said ruffling her hair
"Who's your friend?" she asked smiling at me
"This" he said putting his arm around my shoulders "Is my good friend Ada Adolebit"
"Hi" i said shyly. to be honest i was intimidated by her beauty and tall frame, i wondered if her and Luca dated.
"It's so nice to meet you" she said with a gleaming smile
"Likewise"
"So, what brings you two to Woodstock?"
"Just passing through. we're enrolling at Morgen Academy" she looked at both of us with huge excitement
"Really? oh wow that's great" she looked to me again "You will love it there, but for you..." she said turning to Luca "I'm pretty sure you know most of the girls there, and teachers" she said raising her eyebrows. i looked over at him
"Well" he said, rubbing the back of his head with his hand "Who could forget a visage like this? I mean...look at me" he said looking up into the greying sky. Rosemary and I looked at each other and shook our heads
"Wanna get a coffee?" she asked me, i nodded my head laughing.
For the next few hours Rosemary, Luca and I had explored the town and were on the road again.
