I had gotten ready in under ten minuets, wearing my dark wash jeggings and black boots, throwing on a cream jumper that belonged to my grandad. i paused after i put it on. my grandad lives in Scotland...but i couldn't see him. i couldn't see any of my family. I only have Leo now. i felt this hollow feeling in my chest. i blinked away my sadness. i wanted to pick up the phone and call my family. i wanted my mum and dad...i wanted to hear their voice telling me this was all a dream. But i know i cant and that made me want to cry even more. my chest feeling tight. I had read in story books about this feeling. i never knew how painful it actually is. i sat there and let the pain soak through my bones, i needed this pain to remind me that i am human and that life goes on. i went to my bathroom and checked my face, my nose was a little red and my eyes slightly puffy, i splashed cold water over my face and walked out to get a towel. then the knock came at the door and Rosemary had come to take me on a tour
We had basically covered the whole of the school now and it was pretty easy to get around, i went to get my timetable and had was in all the same classes as Rosemary, i wonder who set that up. the library was the last place to visit
"Save the best till last eh?" she said nudging my arm, i smiled brightly at the idea of seeing the library, she opened a door down the hall from our English class, the beauty behind it was something i could never have imagined. The humbling smell of old books filled my lungs. i missed the library back home. as soon as i thought of home it felt like my stomach did a flip. i felt Rosemary link her arm though mine "want to meet Mr.Lysdane?" i looked up at her, and gawped at her question,
"Meet. him?" i shook my head "I will be so awkward since i had a dream about the man" she laughed at my rambling
"You'll be fine. besides he is going to be our English teacher"
"What?" i asked "Really?" she nodded her head in response, then began to drag me towards a table, on it sat a man with white blond hair facing away from us, he was broad shouldered and hunched over a book, his big hands gliding over the braille, as i walked with Rosemary closer towards him i could see he was mouthing the words of the book. bits of my dream kept popping up in my head. the feel of his lips, his big hands pulling me close, the soft feel of his skin under my fingertips. i mentally laughed at myself for being such a schoolgirl
"Mr Lysdane?" Rosemary spoke softly to him
"Ah." he said picking up a bookmark and placing it between the pages he was reading and closed the book "Rosemary De Alno, back for more hellish lessons with me i see..." he paused as if he sensed my presence, his black eyes locked with my blue ones, just like in my dream they were so dark you couldn't tell where the iris began and the pupil stopped. He looked at me like he could actually see me, which i knew was impossible because...he was blind. "Who's your friend?" he asked smiling
"Ada" i said in a small voice
"Ada..." he said letters rolling off his tongue perfectly "It's a pleasure" he said extending his left hand for me to shake, the moment our hands touched i felt like i had held them a thousand times. then i felt something cold and smooth underneath one of my fingertips, i sneaked a look and saw a wedding ring. the cold feel of the ring against his cold skin made it feel like it didn't belong on him
"It's nice to meet you" i said surprised i could speak my eyes still looking at him, watching the way his black eyes never left my face and how he reluctantly pulled his hand away from mine and stroked his chin, the movement of his muscles. I found everything about him fascinating
"Gazing at me with curious eyes is one way to get to know someone" he said smiling
"Oh. i'm..sorry" i mumbled and bit my lip, i felt Rosemary chuckle beside me
"We best be going" she said "I just wanted to introduce you to one of your new pupils" she looked at me and stuck her tongue out "See you sir"
"See you in class tomorrow. You too Ada" he said licking his lips and going back to his book. We walked over to the classics section of the library and before we turned the corner of never ending bookshelves i looked back at the table, he was looking at me, i gave a tiny gasp. there was something about him that i found so fascinating. It was everything.
