Chapter 13

Azure

Devin could hear my mom through the phone screaming.
Devin: "I think she found out about the condoms."
Azure: "should we go home?"
Devin: "we don't have a choice."
Azure: "yeah we do."
Devin always tries to do right by my mama like dang, you just met her tf. We get in the car and I'm just praying she doesn't find out about the condoms. We pull up in front my house, we walk inside. My mom looks at me and I look at her.
My mom: "Azure have a seat."
As I turn to go sit down I could feel her eyes staring at me I'm thinking to myself I hope she don't see the limp in my walk, my lil coochie felt so sore.
My mom: "it's taking everything in me not to come over there and slap the hell out of you."
Azure: "what's your problem?"
My mom: "Azure have I ever disrespected you?"
Azure: "yeah multiple times."
Devin gives me this look like just chill, if anybody knew about my anger issues its most likely Devin & My mom.
My mom: "talk to me like I'm your mother, when we were in the hospital and I asked you, " are you having sex?" What did you say?"
Azure: "mom stop acting dumb you knew I was pregnant, the doctor told you I had a miscarriage the fuck else? Why are we still in the past?"
My mom: " AZURE SPEAK TO ME LIKE IM YOUR MOTHER. I thought this was a one time thing because I went in my room today and one of my condoms were missing."
Azure: "what is your point?"
My mom: "who else took them?"
Azure: "I hate to state the obvious."
Devin says," Azure vibe. "
My mom: "you having sex in my house Azure? You pay bills in this house? You grown now? Huh?. What happened to no sex before marriage?"
Me: "Don't tell me about no sex before marriage.When you don't even practice what you preach."
Devin and Mr.Dean looks at me crazy. The room got quiet.
My mom changed the conversation
My mom: "Devin I asked you this once before and you've never answered it, how old are you?"
Devin: "um"
Azure: "He's 20? Anymore questions? "
My mom walked over to me and slapped me, my
Principal walks over and grab my mom.
My mom: "you think you grown huh? you've taken advantage of me. The one time I let you have some privacy by yourself with a boy, I'm thinking you guys are resolving your issues and y'all up in my house having sex."
Me: "I'm almost 18 everything you're telling me is irrelevant. I can't wait to leave this hellhole, you need to stay out my business, I already knew you and my principal was doing stuff behind my back and you try to act all so innocent. No sex before marriage but last time I checked you guys aren't even married. Sneaking him in the house when you drop me off to school."
My mom: "Azure since you're so grown and you have a man that you feel you're ready to start your life with get yo shit and get out."
I storm upstairs and I tell Devin to go start the car. My mom follows me upstairs still going on about the situation and runs in my room and starts throwing my clothes downstairs.
My mom: "GET OUT GET OUT GRAB YOUR SHIT AND GET OUT. YOU'RE SUCH AN UNGRATEFUL CHILD. YOU'RE WORTHLESS. YOU'RE NOT EVEN GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL. IM ASHAMED TO EVEN SAY I HAD YOU AS A DAUGHTER JUST LIKE YOUR DAMN DADDY."

I looked at her and started laughing.
Me: "if my dad is so worthless that makes you as worthless for having a child with him. You knew better but you chose to do wrong."
I wasn't going to pick up the clothes she threw. So I just grabbed my phone and slammed the front  door. She followed me outside and screamed, " karma is coming for you bitch."
I get in Devin's car
Devin looked at me.
Devin: "ay yo on some real shit Azure, you can't be talking to yo mom like that."
Me: "fuck her."
Devin: "it's times where you might not like what your mom is telling you, but she only does it because she cares."
Me: "you don't know what I been through with my mom, you only know the half."
Devin: "I told you we should've never had sex in her house Azure I told you bruh. Look where it got you man."
Me: "I know a lot of kids who been fucking since middle school I lost my virginity a month ago and it's world war 2. I'm almost 18."
Devin: "I would kill to have my mama back again Azure, please cherish yours although she might get on your nerves, just know when she's gone you won't be able to get her back."
I wasn't trying to listen to what Devin was saying. So I turned up the music.
I notice that we passed Devin house.
Me: "where we going?"
Devin: "to pick up Jr."
We pulled up to Shaquavia's mama house, Devin ask me if I was coming, I looked at him like, "are you sure?" He said, " If you gone be apart of Jr. life everybody gone have to know about you."
We were walking up to Shaquavia's mom house and Devin looked back at me.
Devin: "Damn bae, you want me to carry you? That limp is something serious."
Me: "oh you got jokes."
Shaquavia mom's house was nice I was excited I get to meet Jr. for the first time. Devin knocks on the door and Shaquavia's dad answers the door.
Shaquavia's dad: "Hey Devin, man wassup?"
They do they little thing boys do with the clap hands and pat each other on the back. Shaquavia's dad looks at me and says," well hello young lady aren't you beautiful." I smiled back at him," Thank You." We walk inside and I see Shaquavia's mom. I see where Shaquavia gets her shape from, her mom ass is stupid fat. As Shaquavia mom walks up to us, she looks at Devin," well who is this? Better not be one of them tramps you be messing with Devin, don't be having my grandson around that shit now." I look at her, Devin grabs my hand tight and laughs, I also see where Shaquavia get her attitude from. I look at him like I don't see the joke. then he replies back," No, it's my girlfriend." Then I look at Devin because I wasn't expecting that answer, then I look at Shaquavia mom and decided to be on my best behavior gave her mama this fake ass smile. I guess she wasn't please she does this fake ass "hmp ok". Shaquavia's dad says," man Shaunti if you don't stop that damn attitude that young lady is gorgeous." As Shaquavia's dad and mom is arguing. Shaquavia and you'll never believe who walks out with her holding Devins baby. Bitch Deandre walks out with Jr. In his hands about to hand her the baby. I thought to myself wow these motherfuckers some good actors cause I thought these two hated eachothers. I didn't wanna say anything because it wasn't my part to.
Devin: "oh homie that's how we rocking ?"
Deandre: "it's not even like that I promise you."
Devin: "I could careless if you fucking Shaquavia or not but why you here tho? I mean if it's not like that then what's so important for y'all to talk about."
Shaquavia's mom: "Devin watch yo mouth in my house now. I taught you better than that."
Devin: Sorry Mrs.Shaunti but I just wanna know why Dre here?
Deandre: look I shoulda told you this a long time ago.
Devin: "tell me what? put me on game."
Deandre: "we took a DN---"
Devin punches Deandre, Shaquavia's dad takes Devin off Deandre.
Deandre: "fuck nigga we over here tryna figure out a way to tell you so you don't get hurt and shit and so you could still be in Jr. life and you come and pull this? If anything Shaquavia ain't want you to be in Jr. life."
Devin: "Shaquavia don't got that fucking choice, I got full custody of Jr. fuck is you talking about?"
Deandre: "she could if I go to the court and tell them I'm Jr. real father."
