Chapter 14

Brennan's POV
We were in the car going to the first stop of Annie's birthday surprise. She fell asleep. I looked over at her peaceful sleeping face. She was perfect. She was everything I've ever wanted. And she was mine. That's when I saw the end of it. A white suv slammed into my side of my car.

I looked at Annie one for time because I knew what was coming. "I love you. I'll see you again." I knew this was the end. My car flipped and turned before we slammed into the pavement. I was hanging outside the door. I couldn't open my eyes or speak but I could hear everything.

"Brennan!" I heard Annie cry. I had to get up. I had to get to her. But I couldn't. I felt someone pick me up and put me in another vehicle. I felt Annie's arms around me. Thank goodness she was okay.

They wheeled us into a room and someone started to talk about my head. They said I needed surgery. I felt my family hug me and cry. "We're going to take Brennan for surgery. Annie, we need to X-ray your leg. It may be broken." I heard the doctor say as the rolled me out.

Annie's POV
"Some birthday huh?"  I laughed as the doctor prepped me for surgery. "Oh yeah. Happy birthday annie!" She said. She rolled me back threw a long never ending hallway. I heard some doctors screaming. "Don't just stand there do something!" One screamed.

"It was a mistake! I'm sorry!" Another yelled. "He's going to die. You're going to end a 18 year olds life!" He yelled again. I started to cry.

"Brennan's gone." I whispered. "What was that?" The nurse asked. "Nothing. I'm fine." I replied. I had nothing left. My whole life was over before it even started. Before we turned into the operating room I looked down at my hands. I had scales and purple hands.

"I'm a fish! Yay! Ive gotta get back to the water! I can't die like this!" I tried to flip out of my chair but this pumpkin wouldn't let me go. "Pumpkin let me go!" I wiggled and she placed a mask on my nose. "Count back from 100" she asked. "100......99.....9-9-8.........9........"

I woke up in my room next to Brennan. "Brennan! You're alive!!!" I cried. "Where did you think I went?" He snapped. "Woah. Oh. Okay. I I was just worried." I felt tears stinging my eyes. "Now why are you crying? You cry at everything. Get over it." He snapped again. What was wrong with him. I texted Katie.

Annie-"can you come down here? Your brother is being a complete butt today."
Katie-"mom said it's just the side effects from the surgery, but sure thing."

Katie arrived about twenty minutes later. "How's my favorite crippled couple?" "I'm fine. I don't know about the other one." I snarled at Brennan. "Oh shut up you prick." He snapped.

"Hey! You listen here. No one I repeat no one is going to talk to Annie that way. Got it?"  Woah. Go Katie. "I got it. Whatever. I just want to go home!" He whined.

The doctor came in and cleared me to go. "No walking on that leg for a month. As for Brennan. You'll be here for about 2 more days then you can go home." He turned back to me.

"And you Annie need to go with the police later this week to solve out what has happened." I nodded in agreement. I went up to kiss Brennan's cheek. "Bye B" I kissed his cheek. "Don't do- Bye Annie. I love you." He whispered. So how did I get here again?
