Areum's POV

"Areum!"

Startled awake by the thunderous call of my mother, I groggily forced my eyes open.

The morning sunlight filtered through my bedroom window, casting a soft glow across the room. I let out a muffled groan, feeling the weight of sleeplessness heavy upon me.

Last night had been a struggle, my mind consumed by thoughts of Joshua's infectious smile.

It was a common occurrence for me, my mind constantly drifting to thoughts of Seventeen, though I swore it was purely innocent daydreaming.

"What?" I grumbled, my voice muffled by the pillow pressed against my face. I had stayed up late, unable to find peace in slumber.

My bedroom door swung open with a bang, and there stood my mother, her hands planted firmly on her hips, an expression of exasperation etched upon her face.

"Lee Areum! Wake up! You need to get ready for school!" she bellowed, her voice resounding through the room.

I let out a frustrated sigh, pulling myself up from the bed. It seemed my attempts to rise were futile, as I stumbled and tumbled to the floor, my face meeting the unforgiving surface with a thud.

"Uggghhh," I grunted, pushing myself up with a mix of annoyance and determination. Despite the clumsy start, I managed to stand on my own two feet.

Completing my morning routine with sluggish movements, I finally donned my school uniform before trudging to the kitchen. My father sat at the table, sipping his morning coffee, while my mother bustled about, preparing our breakfast.

"Morning," I greeted with a yawn, slipping into a seat across from my father. He simply nodded in response, taking another sip of his coffee.

"So, how was our new neighbor last night? I didn't get a chance to ask because you came home in such a hurry and locked yourself in your room," my mother inquired, her curiosity piqued.

I frowned at her, feeling a pang of annoyance at the memory.

"Don't even ask," I retorted, sighing heavily. My mother raised an eyebrow in response, her stern gaze fixed on me.

"What do you mean, young lady? And who gave you permission to speak to me like that?" she admonished, her tone laced with a mixture of reprimand and concern.

I mustered a sheepish smile, realizing my lapse in manners. "Sorry, Mom," I apologized, hoping to soften her stern demeanor.

"I'm off to school now! Bye!" I declared, hastily rising from my seat and making a beeline for the front door.

"Your breakfast!" my dad called after me. "No time, Dad! I'm fine!" I shouted back, eager to escape the impending barrage of questions.

As the door clicked shut behind me, I breathed a sigh of relief, grateful for the temporary respite. Little did I know, my morning was about to take an unexpected turn.

"Good morning there!" a cheerful voice greeted me. Startled, I spun around, only to find myself face-to-face with none other than Dino from Seventeen, his eyes bright and a smile playing at his lips.

My heart threatened to burst from my chest, a mix of disbelief and excitement coursing through me. I struggled to find my words, the sight of the idol before me rendering me momentarily speechless.

"Hiiii!" Dino greeted again, his cheerful tone breaking through my stupor. Slowly, I managed to regain control of my vocal cords.

"H-Hi," I stammered, my voice laced with a combination of awe and bewilderment.
