"I, uh..." I stand back up. "Grunkle Stan?"
"Hm?" He hardly looks up from his newspaper.
"I... I think I'll go join the others now, actually..." I tug my hat down over my head as I head out the door, not even bothering to wait for his response.
I get to the town before realizing I have no idea where to find Dipper, Mabel, Wendy and Soos. They could still be at McGuckett's, but if not, I have no idea where else to-
"Try the history museum," I nearly jump in surprise at Bill's voice in my head.
Bill, go away. I find myself walking faster in the direction he pointed me.
"Aw, you don't really want that..." He voice is almost teasing. He wasn't leaving anytime soon.
I think I do, actually. My fists clench. As I walk into the history museum.
"Turn right," Bill says.
Why should I trust you?! I mentally shoot back as I turn. You possess my cousin, you don't answer my questions, you move in and out of my brain...
"Left, now,"
"You give me nightmares," I barely notice that I'm speaking to myself quietly. "You kiss me," My voice grows a bit louder. "AND YOU JUST EXPECT ME TO-"
"Shut up, we're here."
"Don't tell me what to do," I mutter, looking around the room. Eyes. Eyes everywhere. It's a bit freaky, but cool at the same time. "Whoa..." I breathe out, backing up. I suddenly hit something and I jump away in surprise when it moves. I brace myself for an alarm and those ridiculous policemen to come running in.
Surprisingly enough, nothing happens.
Okay, not nothing. Far from nothing, just nothing I was expecting. The thing I bumped into, a large depiction of an eye over a fireplace, appears to be a button of some sort. I push it in, and a staircase forms behind the fireplace.
"Whoa..." I breathe out, starting down it.
"You're welcome, Police Box."
"That's starting to get annoying again.""I didn't realize how dark it'd be down here..." I say, realizing how dumb that sounds. It's an ominous staircase, of course it'll be dark.
"Ooh, I got this!" Bill says suddenly, nearly causing me to slip as I feel for the next step. Next thing I know is a bright light is shining in my eyes.
"What the-?!" I squint trying to see through it.
"Sorry. Hey could you do us both a favor a take off your hat for a second?"
"Um... sure..?" I do as he asks, and the light redirects itself in front of me, like one of these headlamps. "Is..." I push my bangs out of the way. "Is there a light coming out of my forehead?!"
"Out of my eye, yeah," Bill replies.
"That... is freaky," I shake my head and continue on.
I suddenly hear a splash and look down. My foot rests in a small puddle of something.
I crouch down and reach out a finger towards it, realizing it's not water
"I wouldn't do that."
I ignore Bill's warning and stick a finger into the liquid. When I pull it back, I nearly loose my lunch.
A rusty scarlet covers the end of my finger. I was never great with blood or innards of any type.
With a shudder, I wipe it off and continue forward cautiously.
I soon come across another puddle, this one slightly larger. Then more puddles. I continue on, despite the lightheadedness that enveloped me, desperate to make sure my cousins are okay.
I shriek as I turn the corner.
He's just laying there, a look of agony still plastered on his face. Dipper's clothes and hat are blood stained and a knife sticks out of his chest.
Shocked, I drop my hat and pretty much just collapse next to him.
"D-dipper?!" I touch his shoulder gently. As soon as I do, however, he disappears. "Huh?!" I look around and see that the puddles have as well.
Another hallucination... I groan mentally, tears still stinging me my eyes. "Not cool, Bill...." I growl, standing up shakily and reaching for my hat.
Just as my fingers brush against it a rough cloth bag is pulled down over my head. "Hey!" I protest as my Bill light goes out and I'm dragged down the stairs."Let me go!" I protest, trying to break free of my kidnapper's grasp. Whoever it is is pulling me down the stairs. Its darker again, but there's light coming from somewhere. I can make out something through the bag. There's a design on it of some sort. It looks like Bill's eye with a cross through it.
It suddenly grows lighter and I hear Dipper's voice
"Say cheese!" There's a zapping sound and i get pushed forward. I barely have time to catch myself before i hit the ground and the bag flies off. I turn to see a guy in a maroon robe running up the stairs, my presumed kidnapper.
"Connie?" I turn again and see Dipper, Mabel, Wendy and Soos. They're standing next to a bunch of other guys in the same maroon robes tied up.
"Hey, Connie, you've got something on your forehead..." Dipper says, peering at it quizzically. Oh crap, Bill's eye!
"See ya!" Bill says hurriedly and fades from my mind.
"What do you mean?" I push my bangs back. "There's nothing here."
"I could've sworn-"
"Are you guys okay?" I blurt out, the images from my nightmare fresh in my mind still.
"Dude, we should be asking you that! you just got a bag thrown over your head and shoved down the stairs!" Wendy says, looking at me like I'm a bit crazy. My face turns red with slight embarrassment. It does seem a bit like I'm overreacting...
We herd the members of this "society" up and out of the museum as the others fill me in on their mind erasing adventure of the day. I pick up my hat on the way up, brushing off any dust that had gotten on it.
Still... I think, distracted as everyone stares in awe at McGuckett's recently retrieved memories. It's great to know they're okay... there was nothing to be scared of.
"Straight Blanchin'" comes on again, but i don't really care much. I'm too lost in thought.
