"Oh, man..." Wendy says. We've returned to the Mystery Shack, currently passing the time by sitting around lazily. "I'm sorry you guys had to see that." I only shrug in response, opening a can of soda.
"You know what Robbie needs?" Mabel asks. "A new girl! Romance is like gum. Once it's lost its flavor, you just cram another one in!"
"Mabel, nice theory," I swallow my gulp of soda. "But I honestly hope the guy I date doesn't think that."
"It's not that easy," Wendy seems to agree.
"It is if you're the world's greatest matchmaker! I've never had an unhappy customer. Like Soos and Melody," She gestures into the next room over when the two are video chatting. "Match made! And then, of course, there's Waddles and Gompers."
I glance to the other side of the room at the goat, who is wearing a wedding veil made of saran wrap. Tin cans are tied to him with string and Waddles duck taped to his side. Mabel has some strange ideas, sometimes.
"Match made!" She cheers as Gompers eats the veil.
"That might work for a goat and a pig, but Robbie's a hopeless case," Wendy shrugs, standing up.
"Hopeless case, ehhh?" Mabel runs off.
"We should go. We were going to meet at Thompson's house, see if we can figure out how to sneak in snacks."
I hop off the register desk. "Sounds good to me."
"And the new guy's joining us."
I nearly miss as I toss my can in the trash. New guy?
"What new guy?" Dipper voices my thoughts.
"He never gave us a name, but he came up to us as we were all leaving the cemetery. You guys were lagging behind, so you didn't get to meet him. He just starred talking with us like we'd known him for more than a few seconds. I guess we just invited him to come with us."
"Cool," I smile. If the rest are cool with him, he should be fine. He's not fine. It's the same jerk who was in the cemetery with Robbie. I walk into Thompson's garage and am greeted by someone flicking my hat off my head. He still has the hood on over his head and that same, self-satisfied grin he had earlier. I glare at him, shoving past.
"Guys," Lee announces to us as I hop up on the hood of Thompson's car. "This is Cy. He's new to town and he's coming with us for the Woodstick festival."
"Hey."
"Sup," Dipper and Wendy greet him.
I only cross my arms.
"So..." Dipper puts his hands in his pockets, watching as I glare at Cy, who, in return, keeps up his grin. "I had an idea. To sneak in food for the festival," He pulls out a roll of duct tape and bags of chips. "We're gonna duct tape these to Thompson.""Ha! This is brilliant," Wendy remarks a little later. Cy, in between helping for a couple minutes and leaning against the wall mysteriously, has messed with my hat and nearly shoved me off the car more than once. I'm sure if he had spoken at all, he would have made teasing remarks of some sort. "The perfect way to sneak cheap snacks into the concert. And it was all Dipper's idea!"
"Woo! Nice," Lee and Nate cheer.
Lee puts a hand on Dipper's shoulder. "Kid, I sense greatness in you."
"Oh, well, I don't know about-" Dipper replies bashfully.
"Greatness!" Lee shouts, lifting him up on his shoulders.
"Alright," Wendy says. "Now everyone go home and finish getting ready for the concert. And before Connie ends up killing Cy," She adds with laugh. My face turns a bit red, but it's true. If I have to deal with him any longer, he may have to deal with Bill in his mind.
"Hey, don't wait up, Tambers," Nate calls to Tambry.
"Don't call me Tambers!" She replies angrily.
"Classic Tambers," Nate laughs. I hop off the car, nearly immediately bumping into someone. I find I'm once again glaring up at Cy.
"Hey," He says.
I don't reply, slightly surprised that he spoke.
"Conifer, right? Why's there a police box on your hat?" I knew it. Teasing remarks.
"It's a TARDIS," I answered, annoyed. "And you're a jerk in my way." I start to move around him, but he moves back in my way.
"So, can I walk around the festival with you?"
This guy is so full of himself. "Well, we kind of have to, if you're going with us," I move around him again.
As I walk away, I stop with realization.
I turn around. "How'd you know my full na-" I freeze. He's gone."All right. Who's ready for the best and most overpriced day of our summer?!" Wendy pumps everyone up that afternoon before we leave.
"Not if I have to deal with him this whole time..." I mutter as everyone else cheers. I watch as they continue to tease Thompson, willing Cy, currently standing next to me, to go away.
He doesn't.
Of course he doesn't.
Suddenly, something that goes about to my knees hits the back of my legs. Hard. I fall back, landing on top of it, which turns out to be a box of something. Cy sits down next to me on it.
"Mind if i sit?" He grins, leaning against my back.
"Exponentially," I growl, trying to push him off me to stand up, hardly listening as Mabel arrives and the others start arguing about something.
"Look," I manage to push him off of me enough to get up. "I don't like you. Let's just make that clear. I don't know how you did this, but in the matter of one afternoon, you've made me look like an idiot and a fool, and frankly, i-"
"You know you're a bit attractive when in a raging fury," He interrupts.
My face grow red hot. "This isn't even close to a raging fury. Listen, the only useful thing you have done all day is prove my point of how annoying you are," I lean in closer. "I know a demon who could drive you insane in seconds," Possibly exaggerating, since I don't quite know for sure. "And unless you want me to send him after you-"
"Burn it!" I hear Mabel shout suddenly.
"...And what is up with you guys?!" I turn to my cousins, standing up straight. Only Dipper and Mabel remain of the six others. "Where'd everyone go?"
"Uh... Mabel may have put a love spell on Robbie and Tambry, which upset the entire gang...." Dipper says.
"Great! No Woodstick Festival, then!" I start out of the garage, eager to dodge Cy.. "See you lat-"
"Wait, but Connie, we're still going!" Dipper protests and I freeze.
"Huh?"
"We need to go fix it!" Dipper explains.
I sigh. "Fine, just as long as-"
"Hey, I'll help too."((Hey so this is a video I made with fanart by thentheyalldied from scenes in past chapters. Is her art not super amazing?
