Exhausted

"Yah Jung Hoseok, go to sleep." Seokjin said impatiently, already lying on his bed. "I need the lights out to fall asleep."

"Another 2 minutes, hyung. I need to solve this Mathematics question first." Hoseok answered, scribbling on his exercise book. "There, I'm all done. Let's sleep."

"Okay, good night." Seokjin said as Hoseok turned of his desk light. "Good night to you too." Hoseok mumbled. But not to me, he thought to himself.

Hoseok and Seokjin were roommates in college. However, their attitude in studying were polar opposites. Hoseok was a scholarship student from a small town 6 hours away, and he was the only hope in his town, sk he was always studying and revising to get good grades. He always aced all his subjects.

While Seokjin...let's just say his family was filthy ruch, and spoiled Seokjin a lot. The aim they sent Seokjin to live in the hostel of this college (although the mansion is like 30 minutes away) was to "train him to become independent". Seokjin didn't give a single fxck to his studies, and he always ordered Hoseok around to finish the daily chores in their room.

If you say that Hoseok could have easily ignored Seokjin, no, you're wrong. Although Seokjin was very bossy and mean at times, he was very very nice to everyone, and Hoseok isn't an exception. He would treat Hoseok to a meal now and then, and would listen him out when he face problems.

It's a miracle that the two became best friends.

After hearing soft snores coming from Seokjin, signaling that he was asleep, Hoseok silently put another blanket on him. Then, he pulled the curtains of the window in front of his table open and pushed the tinted glass panes open to the widest. Street lights illuminated the study table, making the words on his worksheet barely noticable but still can be seen. Hoseok shivered as the chilly night air entered the room. He put on a jacket, sat down in front of the study table, and started revising.

The papers on the table flew away when a strong gush of wind blew in. Hoseok jumped a bit, immediately picked up the papers and looked at Seokjin. Luckily, he was still asleep. Hoseok didn't want anyone to find out that he was staying up late to study. Especially not Seokjin. God knows how much would he be nagged at if he did find out.

He settled the papers down in a pile, putting his pencil case on top of them. Then he glanced at the wall clock. It was 3.30am.

Hoseok sighed and smiled tiredly. The strong wind just now had woken him up quite a lot. He opened his book again, reading diligently.

Looks like I'll pull an all-nighter again, thought Hoseok.

It was the fourth day he hadn't get any sleep.

XXXXXXX

"Stop dreaming." Seokjin nudged Hoseok a bir, and Hoseok jolted to reality. "Oh...sorry."He rubbed his eyes and continued to listen to the lecturer again.

Seokjin had long accepted the fact that Hoseok would either wake up before him or fall asleep on the study table. So when he found Hoseok asleep lying on on the table that morning, he wasn't surprised.

While Hoseok, on the other hand, didn't feel like himself. It had been only around 10 minutes after he closed his eyes for a rest before Seokjin woke him up. He felt like sleeping, no, he wanted to sleep.

Seokjin looked at Hoseok worriedly. "Are you okay?" He asked. "Hmmm..." Hoseok was too tired to even forn a complete sentence.

"This is not it." Seokjin frowned. Hoseok lowered his head.

After the lecture ended, Seokjin waited patiently for Hoseok, whose movements were unusually sluggish, to finish packing. Then, he dragged him by the wrist, and walked out of the lecture hall, earning stares and gasps from theothers.

"Jin hyung..." "Shut up and just follow me." So Hoseok followed Seokjin, a light pink tinting his face. It was definitely not normal for him to be dragged around by another boy, especially Seokjin.

They came to a part of the campus Hoseok didn't know of. It was a quiet little corner, with a bench under a beautiful cherry blossom tree (as Hoseok recognised), which was green and shady at the time as it was not flowering season. Hoseok thought it would be a romantic dating spot, but why did Seokjin bring him here?

"Come, sit beside me." Seokjin sat down on the bench. Hoseok couldn't help but obey. Seokjin frowned again at how Hoseok dragged his steps to him.

"Hoseok, tell hyung what is wrong." Seokjin asked sincerely, but Hoseok shook his head. "Nothing." He replied. "Comeon, you weren't like this before. Tell hyung what happened. Is it a financial problem? Or a family affair?"

"No, it really is nothing." Hoseok tried to look into Seokjin's eyes, but failed as he tried hard to focus his sight on him.

"Look, I know what is wrong with you." Seokjin sighed, ruffling Hoseok's brown bangs. "I can clearly see it in your eyes. You are tired, aren't you? Or should I say exhausted?"

Hoseok stayed quiet. "You can't keep anything from me. Now tell me honestly, how many days did you stay awake?"

"Four." Hoseok gave up as he was indeed too exhausted to process anything in his mind. "Oh gosh." Seokjin sighed again. Then, he did something out of the blue. He pulled Hoseok's arm a little bit harder than usual, making him lean on his shoulder. "Now, rest."

"Rest? Now? You mean, sleep?" Hoseok asked, jolting up but Seokjin pulled him back again. "Yes. You'll be too distracted to sleep if we go back to our room. Come on, you'll collapse if you don't sleep. It's not good for your health. Here, let me take your backpack for you."

Hoseok handed over his backpack, not bothering to move his head. Seokjin's shoulder is so wide and comfortable, and Hoseok could feel his consciousness slipping away little by little.

"Relax." Seokjin whispered gently, stroking Hoseok's hair softly. "Everything can wait."

And that was the last straw for Hoseok. He let his eyes close and soon, he was fast asleep on Seokjin's shoulders. Seokjin was still stroking Hoseok's haur while staring at him. The sunlught seeped through the branches of the tree, fell softly on Hoseok's face, making him shine. Seokjin thought he was even more angelic than he normally was.

Staring at Hoseok, Seokjin smiled. "You nerdy idiot." He whispered.
