Chapter Two

Alivia Durrant

My mother sat in her newly designed chair she would sit in everyday, slightly looking up from the magazine she was reading. Then quickly forcing her head back down. You could tell she didn't want to talk to me, thinking I was so mean. But according to my dad, she's the one who asked for my apology, so I must.

"M-Mom?" I muttered, stepping closer to her slim self.

She closed the magazine, placing it on her lap. Then after, she slowly looked up at me, crossing her arms not showing any emotion besides her teary eyes.

"I just came to tell you I'm sorry," I gulped, now nervous.

"Ha," She sarcastically laughed, jerking her head back then scowling, "You're sorry? Sorry for what?"

I took a deep breath feeling the cold air against my cheeks then departed my dry lips, "I'm sorry for being so disrespectful, it won't happen again."

"Damn right you where disrespectful!" She blurted causing me to drop my jaw, "I might seem like the craziest person on earth to you, but if I'm really that crazy, why don't you kill me already?" I didn't understand what she was saying. She was to the point of crying as she flung her arms around, and every word made me feel even worse.

"Is everything going alright in here?" My dad slowly walked in the room forcing a smile.

I turned to look at him before shaking my head no.

"Everything's fine," All of a sudden my mom burst into tears while I widened my eyes.

"Hun!" My dad shrieked running towards her with his arms open. "Don't be upset, everything will be fine."

I started to cry also, not able to help myself. She made me feel like the worst daughter in the world. Which I probably was. "I'm really sorry mom!"

"Alivia, what have you done?" My dad gasped as he rubbed her back.

"I didn't do anything!" I defensively jerked my head back and rose my eyebrow. "Just know that I'm sorry mom, I have to go." I stood up and walked out of the living room, wanting to get away from the drama.

I could hear my mothers sobs from the kitchen. When anyone in my families sad, I feel terrible. And right now, as the rain soaks the outdoors. I feel like the worst person on the planet. She does so much for me, and I show her the least respect. She wanted me to kill her for crying out loud. I just wish things where better.

"Liv? Are you in here?" I could hear as my dad entered the kitchen. I peered through the window and frowned, not caring about anything, nor wanting to talk to anyone.

"Liv, it's okay." He placed his soft hands on my shoulder hoping is turn around.

But I didn't.

"Dad, I don't want to talk right now," I explained. "Please just leave me alone, I'm not trying to be rude. But I just need to be alone."

He nodded, "Okay baby, when you're ready to talk. I'll be here waiting for you," He turned around and walked out of the small kitchen. I let out a deep sigh before turning around and walking out of the kitchen and back up the creaky stairs. I needed to finish the letter anyways, but now it'll be hard to think of something because I'm so stressed out.

When I reached my room I lunged into my desk chair and let out a firm yawn. Before entwining the short pencil with my fingers and placing the tip of it on the paper.

Now, what to write.

Monday

--
"Alivia Durrant! Is there an Alivia Durrant here?" The obnoxious office lady screeched as I slowly stood from my chair.

"R-Right here, that's me." I forced a smile, glancing around the room. Since my moms still mad at me from the other day, my dad was nice enough to take work off and take me here.

She motioned me behind the desk as I quivered her direction, still not departing my fake smile.

"Well come on now, we don't have all day," The lady rolled her eyes dramatically.

"Sorry," I mumbled, now behind the desk and walking faster down the familiar hallway.

"Alivia, I'm in here!" Mr.Eyeglass's voice rung throughout the hallway as he called for my name. I was almost in the classroom, I don't know why everyone think's I'm so slow.

"C-Coming," I stuttered, now entering the decent sized room.

"Alivia! How are you doing?" He jumped him joy, seeming really happy to see me.

I kept my fake smile and sat in the chair in front of him, clutching my papers tight. "I'm good, really."

"That's great, how do you think you did?" He rose his eyebrow, eyeing the papers in my hand.

"I think I did-" I paused, "Amazing!"

No not really.

"That's great news! May I see it?" A hungry look came upon his face as he reached for the papers.

"Of course," I handed him the papers, biting my lip really hard.

He slowly looked down at the thin paper, studying every word. I've never been so anxious in my life! College is a big deal to me, and if he hates it.. My world ends!

He gently placed the paper on his desk before looking up at me with no expression on his narrow face.

"Alivia I-" A small smile grew on his face, "I loved it!"

"Really!?" I gasped, jumping out of my chair. Doesn't this mean I-I made it? I'm apart of Trailblazer University?

"Congratulations Alivia Durrant, you're officially a member of this University," He proudly shook my hand.

I was speechless, not knowing what to say. "T-Thank you," I mumbled with joy.

"I'll see you Wednesday, okay?" He chuckled walking towards the door.

"Yes! I'll be here for sure, will I get a dorm?" I widened my eyes, hopeful. I've always wanted to stay in a dorm!

"Yes, I'll send you the information. Have a great day Alivia," He smiled.

"Thanks again, bye!" I galloped out of the room, spinning in circles. "I did it!"
