Lying me down on the bed he put all his weight on me. He began biting at my neck. My legs wrapped around his waist, clawing at his back. He began kissing my collarbone, pushing away my bra straps. That’s when my brain started processing all of this. He wanted me, and as much as I wanted him, I realized that maybe he was right. I wasn’t ready for this. Pushing up on the beds mattress, I directed my attention to the champagne. If I could drink enough of it, I could possible get drunk. When I got up, Jason tore the towel off my body.
“Where you going.”
I grabbed the bottle, “Getting a drink.” I poured the remaining bit of liquid in my mouth. I set the bottle on the table, spinning it round and round.
When I sat down on the bed, Jason’s hand grabbed my waist.
“Kate. Before any of this happens-” His cheeks turned slightly pink. “-I know that’s only been a month or so with you, but I have to say that, I think I’m in love with you.”
Shit! He said he loved me? I couldn’t just say, “thank you” or “that’s nice”. I had to say it back! Did I mean it though? This is bad. And I’m taking too long to think about this because he’s looking at me!
I pressed my body against him, closing in on his ear. “I love you too.” I whispered.
Jason grabbed my wrists and threw them against the bed. As far as we had come with this, I just didn’t think I could go threw with this. No, I had to stop this. Kate, stop him. My body did nothing to stop this, I was just sitting there, enjoying this moment. I was screaming on the inside, but the outside showed nothing of how I really felt. Finally, my arms grabbed his shoulders, tossing them back. “Jason stop, please.”
“What?” He was smiling, but I think he thought that I was being sexual about it.
“No, I’m serious. I- I can’t do this.”
He grabbed the towel, then threw it around my shoulders and started cuddling me. “I’m sorry. Did I make you feel uncomfortable?”
“It’s not you, I just don’t think I’m ready to make that step.”
“I understand.”
“Thank you.” I kissed him before getting my dress. I slipped my dress on and felt Jason’s shirt underneath it. I threw it in the seat, thinking it would look like he had forgotten where he had put it. Without another word I looked up at the stars. Jason walked over and sat next to me. He put his arm around my shoulder and I put my legs over him, leaning myself into his chest.
“Do you think there are aliens? Or something out there we just don’t know about?”
“Sometimes, there’s something sitting in front of us and we don’t know anything of what it really is. There are things we don’t know, and probably never will know.” he didn’t even look at me, he just stared into the night sky.
I snuggled into his chest. I could hear his heartbeat. I listened to it pump, harder and faster. The knowing that he was alive. I could fall asleep to it.
“Jason.” I whispered under my breath, still listening to his heart beat.
“What?”
“I love you.”
“I’ve loved you, Kate.”
Our lips pressed together. I knew I was a virgin, and that Jason wanted to change the status, but I just didn’t want that to happen. Not now that is. Jason seemed respectable though, trustworthy. Tempted, but not enough to make me lose it. With Jason cuddling me, we gazed at the night sky. I checked my phone. 9:30p.m.!
