I felt the first tear fall from my face, I couldn’t tell if I was sad or scared, probably both. Jason stood there only looking at me before reacting. He back up, on all four now and a black cloud of dust surrounded. He stepped out back in a human form. He came over, taking a deep breath.
“Kate, unlock the door.”
My eyes were still fixed on the road. I was terrified. Unable to think or speak. I couldn’t move. I was traumatized by this. Why? Why is this happening? Why can’t this be a dream?
“Kate open the door.” I still didn’t answer. “Now!” He screamed, his voice becoming more deep and demanding.
My hand moved and I lowered the window down just enough for fingers to slip through. “I think I need to go home.”
“Really? Because I think you should maybe open the door.” His fingers slipped into the window, the dark black claws tapping the inside of my car.
The tears ran down my face even faster. I wipe them away.
“I can explain.”
My foot touched the gas petal. “Goodbye Jason.” I whispered. The dark cloud formed around him again he leaped through chasing me on all four. I stepped down even more and raced to the end of the street. Jess’s car was pulled into the ditch. I hurried to open my door and pulled Jess out. Jason came running down the street in his old self. I wasn’t sticking around.
Dragging Jess into the back of my car, I got in myself, and began driving away. When I made it home I freaked out crying in the driveway. Jess was half awake and Jason wasn’t going to just let me walk out of this with no conversation. I was pretty much screwed. As I continued to, Jess became more awake and she sat straight up.
“What’s going-” She rubbed her head, then turning around. “-how did I get into the car?!”
“I carried you.” I whimpered.
“Katie, I can’t explain what I saw!”
“I know-” I tried to control my tears. “It was like the biggest wolf ever! Like, it would go down in history! And I think, I think-” She couldn’t put the words together. “I think I have seen those eyes before. It almost hit my car so I swerved.”
She put her arms around me and held me from the backseat. “What happened to you?”
She hadn’t figured it out. Jason was some sort of dog, and when I say dog I don’t mean player, I really mean a four legged dog! Jess couldn’t know because she first won’t believe me, and second, would probably go insane. For some reason, I don’t understand how I wasn’t going insane. I took deep breaths to steady myself.
“I went to get you but I couldn’t tell what was wrong with you. So I started crying.”
“Did you see Jason?”
“No.”
I wanted to start crying again, but I held in every tear possible.
“That was a waste of time. Do you mind giving me a ride home tonight? I sort of need to go home and I don’t think my mom’s going to be too happy when I tell her about my car.”
She talked to me about how Ellie was crazy as I drove her home, and on the way back home I watched carefully. I finally made it into my bedroom and began crying on the bed. My mind couldn’t think, I was going insane. My window shut close and I flipped over. Ellie stood looking at me as she locked the window shut.
“Why?!” I whispered upsetly. “How is this possible and-” She interrupted.
“Kate please calm down.”
