The Firran Way

Chapter 8

It's been about a month since me and Ruju had started living in the guild house. Both Kronus and Apex were fully trained, as well as Ninja. I was downstairs fixing breakfast, while the 'sleeping kitten' was still cozy in bed.

"Ruju," I called loudly to the upstairs bedroom. A thump hit the floor, followed by heavy footsteps to the stairs. Ruju came into the kitchen rubbing his eyes, still in a tank top and sweats. "Good morning, sleepy head," I said without glancing up from the fruit I was slicing.

"Morning," He responded and sat down at our bar counter. "What'cha makin'?" He asked.

I took the two full plates and moved to the bar next to Ruju, "Just cut up some dragonfruit, I've heard that it's pretty good," I replied then started to eat, not talking anymore.

"Hakumei?" Ruju asked. It was the afternoon now, the Sun was at its highest point. We decided to take a walk into town and get something for dinner.

"Yeah?" I questioned back.

"Let's take a look at the message board in the main tower, maybe we could find someone who'd want to join." He said, going into a large building that rose above the rest of the city. I followed behind him, and walked up to a large board covered in small notes. They seemed to describe whoever pinned them to the board.

Ruju had pulled off one of the slips and read it. "They're named Ichi, and specialize in VItalism and Sorcery. They also have a Sabrefang named Mikkusu. Seems that they live near us too." Ruju said, glancing at me before looking back at the paper. "I think we should talk to Ichi, see if they want to join us."

"Of course, let's go back to pick up backup though." I replied, refering to Kronus, Apex, and Ninja. I had figured that since this Ichi person had a Sabrefang they could have attack us anytime, it would only be fair.

The walk back didn't take long, neither the walk to Ichi's house. It was a small farm cottage, crops were planted, and it was surrounded by wooden fence. A Calico Sabrefang was sitting outside, its vibrant orange eyes gazing at the landscape around it. As soon as it noticed Ruju and me it let out a loud 'meow,' seconds later a young Harani girl came outside with a staff in hand.

"Who are you?" She questioned, trying to seem threatening. However, it didn't work very well, her voice was youthful sounding. She wore robes that had tan coloring and blood red trim. A hood covered her head, shielding part of her face. I could see her pale skin and golden eyes though.

"Are you Ichi?" I asked. She nodded slowly, removing the hood and revealed blonde hair.

"And you are?" Ichi resorted, Mikkusu stood and flanked her partner.

"My name's Hakumei, this is Ruju," I said while gesturing to the Firran behind me, "We saw your posting in Veroe and were wondering if you'd like to join us." A bark sounded from my flank, "Oh, and this is Kronus, the white Wolhound is Apex, then the Sabrefang is Ninja."

She was looking at us, probably wondering if we were joking or not. "What would I possibly gain from joining you?" I liked her, she had an attitude.

"Well," I started, "You would be able to move into our house if you wished, you'd have your meals taken care of. And, you'd also gain some friends, and eventually once we get more to join us, you would become part of a known guild." I let her think, Ruju stood patiently at my side doing the same.

Ichi sighed, then motioned for us to come inside. I examined the small home that she lived in. It had a bed in the far corner, with seating and a fireplace near the door, and ended with counter space and a small table by the opposite wall from her bed.

She took a seat at the table, both me and Ruju followed. I had Kronus and Apex wait outside, Ruju doing the same with Ninja. "So," Ichi began, "When you say 'known guild,' what do you mean by that?" Her posture was relaxed, lazily slouching over the hardwood table.

"You know, the big time guilds that everyone wants to join, and are talked about everywhere." In Haranya, there was only one well known guild like this, but everyone knew about them. "Like Lusca's Awakening. I haven't met anyone who didn't know their name."

She nodded briefly, "What would we be called?" Ichi asked. I hadn't thought about a name, I honestly never thought I'd even get this far with her.

I paused a minute before I finally said "The Firran Way." Ichi seemed confused, but I understood, why would she, a Harani, join a guild named 'The Firran Way?'

"I'll join," She said, grinning like a mad cat, "You two seem really cool from first impression, and I think that joining will be a good choice."

"That's great, we'll come back and help you move in tomorrow if you want." I suggested, the sun was starting to disappear and I didn't want to be trying to carry anything in the dark.

"Ok, sure thing." Ichi stood and started walking to the door, me and Ruju followed her actions and stepped outside. We said out goodbye's and went back home.

Well long time no see whoever is reading this

It's been like 2 months, right? Somethin' like that

I finally got a kinda ok idea to move this story forward

Also Ichi & Mikkusu, new characters I like them already

Summer is 18 days away, so i'll def update more then

But as of now, I have 3 performances and 5 finals to take in those 18 days so yippee :D

I hope everyone has had a good school year and such
