Feels like my eyes stayed open all night. Because of Laila, I didnt sleep at all. All I did was dwell on the past. It might be a good thing considering I work later on today. If I would have slept last night, I would have been up all day.
When I sat up, a small smile came on my face. Dominique was peacefully resting in her bassinet. After what happened, I wanted to keep my baby girl as close possible. After cleaning up and getting myself together, I got her from my parent's room.
"Good morning beautiful."
Just when I stood up, there was a knock on my door. I stood still and stared at it until I heard mama's voice. Even then, I still wouldn't open the door. She could have that monster with her.
My phone vibrated against my nightstand, which caused me to flinch. I went over to it and looked at it.
Mom: sweetie are u awake? we need to talk
I waited a few seconds before going to the door and opening it. She looked as if she was on the verge of tears. My eyes scanned over her and I realized she was wearing her work clothes.
"Mom... what..."
Her eyes went down to my bare thighs, causing me to gasp. I forgot about the huge bruise on my right thigh. Just being truthful, I did it to myself. My anger and sadness took over to the point where I couldn't control my actions. I took it out on myself. A little bit like I did a few years ago.
"Saraji, what's going on? You can be honest with me."
"Oh, this?" I pointed at my thigh. "It happened last night."
She took me in my room and sat with me on my bed. Her eyes stared straight into mine, something she usually did before she asked me something serious. She knows that if she stares into my eyes, I can't lie to her.
"Is something going on between you and your siblings? Is that why you didn't want to come home yesterday? Saraji, your dad and I are worried."
If she thought something was going between us, why would she let my sister live here?!
"Uh, no." I answered. "Simi and Zo aren't even around long enough to cause a problem."
Simon and Lorenzo both live out of state. They are staying in a hotel in Atlanta for now. Both of them are trying to pursue their dream as a music artist. They live in California, but went to Atlanta for a few meetings and events.
"And Laila?"
I hate her. I hate her with a passion for hate. All she did was abuse my body. Then, because she was a ran through ho, she let her boyfriend abuse me. She had to keep him some way. It's horrible to wish death on somebody, but I wish she would fucking die. Better yet, I wish I had the strength to kill her... but I fear her.
"She is utterly annoying and she needs to grow up. I don't really have a problem with her though."
Hey, technically I didn't lie. I don't have a problem with her, I had a problem with her.
"Why did you two fight like that last night?"
"We told you. Her foolish self was hiding in my room, and when I seen a body in my bed, I went crazy. I didn't really have time to think about the face, I just thought someone broke into the house."
She stared at me for a few minutes, causing me to feel extremely uncomfortable.
"Well." She stood up. "Your father told me that he had a surprise for me after work, which I assume would be dinner at my favorite restaurant. He's predictable. Anywho, I suppose Laila could watch baby Domo while we are gone tonight. She went out this morning but she will be back by that time."
