One month later

{Amir}

"Good evening baby boy. Let me close these blinds for you."

This is the strangest thing that's ever happened to me. Different voices go through my ears periodically, but I can never respond to them. No matter how hard I try to open my lips, they remained pressed together. No matter how hard I try to open my eyes, darkness still surrounded me.

"Okay that's better." I felt movement beside me. "Son, I would love for you to wake up. I've been waiting to talk to you for eighteen years."

SON?! What is this woman talking about? The only female that would call me son was Tasha. Her voice is far more softer and more feminine than Tasha's.

"I've made some bad decisions in my life. The worst one was ever staying away from you for so long. Rehabilitation took way longer than I thought it would. I..." Her voice started cracking up. "I... I... almost died. I was... so close. But I truly do believe that my love for you kept me alive baby. For the rest of my life, I just want to show you that I care for you baby. I want to be the best mother that I can be. Just please, wake up son."

Is this dejavu? I remember hearing this already... I think. Something like it. Just never heard the mother part.

Tasha was the only person that Adam wanted me to know as a mother. I really did think she was my mother. That's why it hurt my soul so bad when she would molest me. None of my friends ever said anything about their moms touching them the way Tasha would. They never said anything about their moms beating and torturing them like Tasha did.

I found out she wasn't my biological mother on the night that my fucking father tried to kill me. Wish he wasn't biologically my father, but he is.

Now, after all of these years, this woman wants me to think that she's my mother?

"You're so handsome." I felt her touch my hair. "Your twin would have been handsome like you too, but he didn't make it. You were the one who made it, Amir. You have a calling in life. You may not know what it is just yet, but God will show you when the time is right."

Twin? Calling? What is this woman talking about?!

The more I thought about what she said, the louder some noise in the room got. My eyelids were extremely heavy, but I still tried my best to lift them up. Little by little, the woman came into my view.

"Oh my..." She stood up with three of her slim fingers pressed against her lips. "My son..."

My eyes couldn't fully open so I couldn't see her fully. I was able to see the tears rolling down her face. Time felt like it stood still as she just stared at me.

Finally, to break the silence, the door opened. A woman wearing scrubs came in. Scrubs? Wait, where am I?

{Saraji}

Life has really been changing in the last month or so. After my baby got out the hospital, I moved back home with my parents. I did so for two reasons. The main reason being because Laila left. She went to live with some of her friends. Mom told me like I really give a damn. Anyway, mama was the second reason. She worked her lovey Dover charm on me to get me to come back. I'm not sure how she makes me love her so much. I think she has some type of spell or something casted over me.

She decided to do an early retirement from her job, so she keeps my baby while I work. I have a job at a clothing store. I work every weekday and sometimes on the weekends.

Speaking of my baby, the precious little one is doing much better. I made sure that those nurses and doctors at that hospital treated my baby right. That's why I never wanted to leave her side. Just in case something happened.
