{Saraji Carson}
As soon as I walked into the changing room, chaos broke out. Chelle was trying her best to break away from Miss Ella.
"Let me go!" Tears fell down her face.
"We can't let you see him like that Nichelle. We need for you to calm down!"
Him? Him who?! What happened while I was on break?!
Nichelle's watery eyes landed on me. Devastation was evident all in them.
"What happened?"
"The dude that you wish was your boyfriend got hurt." Bri said while rolling her eyes. "You don't stand a chance with him now."
Nichelle broke away from Miss Ella and charged at Bri. Even though I didn't like what Bri said either, I grabbed Nichelle and held her around her waist. It was hard trying to contain her.
"WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN BITCH?!"
Tears formed in Bri's eyes. "He lost a lot of blood. He may be d..."
Nichelle proceeded to nut up, trying her best to knock Bri's head off. Luckily for me a guy grabbed Nichelle and effortlessly held her back. Another person escorted Bri into the office.
Currently, I don't even want a boyfriend. The guy who I am beginning to really like, though, is Amir. Nichelle is extremely upset. That's her cousin. That must mean that something must have happened to him?
"Nichelle, I'll take you to the hospital if you want me to."
She nodded with tears racing down her face. Now this is how a cousin should care for her cousin. She isn't putting her money or anything before him.
Nichelle grabbed my hand and jogged out of the changing room. We didn't stop until we reached the clock in the main lobby area. After she clocked out, she ran out the main doors.
"Saraji wait!" I heard Tori's voice.
I continued walking, so she followed behind me.
"I want to go with y'all."
"You have a car. Go yourself."
"Rodney kept my car today. Chelle was mine and Bri's way to work."
Pathetic. He already gets all her money and moved in with her, but now she let him keep her car. Good thing that isn't my problem.
"We'll be back before the shift ends. You're not getting in my car. Sorry."
"Why are you being like that?! Because I don't want you to be around my boyfriend all the time? Sounds suspect to me. You don't have a thing for Rodney, do you?"
Not even if he was the last muthafucka in the whole planet. Not sure if he's the abusive type, but so many things he does reminds me of Jason. I wouldn't be stupid enough to fall for that type again.
"No bitch... I really want to get away from my parent's house! I don't want to risk getting..." I shook my head. "You wanna know what? Fuck you. I'm wasting time on you that I could be using to check on someone important. Get over yourself. I don't want Rodney just as much as Rodney doesn't want your ass. You just a paycheck."
By then I was at my car. I unlocked the doors. I was about to get in, but I felt my head being pulled back. I turned around just in time to receive a punch to my face.
"TORI HAVE YOU LOST YOUR DAMN MIND?!" Nichelle asked as she pulled us apart. "My fucking cousin could be dead right now and you're out here holding her up for some bullshit? I didn't hear any false information come from her mouth. Get off Rodney's dick sometimes and maybe you'll regain the common sense I thought you had."
She pushed Tori so hard that she hit the ground.
"I'm so sick of the abusive women in this family. Don't talk to me anymore Victoria."
After that, Nichelle and I left. Neither one of us said anything on the way to the hospital. We probably had a lot on our minds. I know I did.
Never thought Victoria would turn on me like that. She never used to let Rodney come in between us. What's so different now? And I cannot believe she put her damn hands on me. What's wrong with some of the women in this damn family?! I don't know, but what I do know is that I'm done with her.
"Right here Saraji."
I got in the turning lane then turned into the emergency room parking lot. Luckily I found a spot close to the door. After locking the doors we raced into the hospital and to the receptionist desk.
There wasn't not even one person at the desk, so we had to stand there and wait a few minutes. While standing there, I just felt like someone was staring at me. When I looked around, only one person really caught my eye. It was some dark skinned lady that had on some big ass sunglasses. Because of those sunglasses, I couldn't tell what she was looking at. Her head was turned this way though.
Don't be so suspicious, Saraji. She is probably waiting to speak to someone like we are.
"Perkins." A door opened and a nurse came out of it.
A tall, lanky man got up and went towards her.
"Excuse me nurse!" Nichelle went over to her. If I had to guess, I would say that she was going to ask her for help.
Finally, about five minutes later, somebody came and sat behind the desk. I was about to ask about Amir, but I felt my shoulder being shoved. I stumbled to the side. Just before I was about to go off, I realized it was the woman that was sitting down. She now had her glasses off.
"I would like to know the whereabouts of Amir Calhoun."
Who is she? I'm pretty sure Nichelle is the only family that knows what happened to him.
Nichelle walked over, causing me to miss what was said about Amir. The woman walked away and sat back in her spot.
"How may I help you?" The receptionist asked.
"Could I please know where Amir Calhoun is right now. I'm his cousin."
"Ma'am, he is currently in surgery. I'm sorry but I don't have an estimated time that the surgery will be complete. You can check back as often as you feel the need to."
Nichelle looked like she wanted to go off on her, but I grabbed her and made her sit down. We sat facing the lady, but on the other side of the room. I pulled out my phone and sent Nichelle a text.
Me: do you know the lady sitting by the window to our right? the one with the white dress on.
Nichelle got her phone out her pocket. I seen her do so out the corner of my eye. To not make it obvious that we were texting each other, I just pretended to be doing something on my phone.
I seen Nichelle hold her phone up, acting like she was searching for signal. She was probably actually trying to sneakily loo at the woman.
ChellyPooh: no. never seen her before. Y????????
Me: she asked about Amir
ChellyPooh: not sure y she would. maybe it's a diff person.
Me: right
I just decided to leave it alone. What are the odds that there would be two people named Amir Calhoun in this hospital? She asked where he was, so that must mean that he either just got here or hasn't been here for long. Our Amir hasn't been here that long either.
Now all I can hear in my mind is his words. I remember when he told me his apartment wasn't a safe place for me to be. He's been hurt in the past. I figured maybe he told me that so I would just leave him alone. But... look at how tonight has gone. He was attacked. Now a random woman is after him. Apparently he wasn't lying to me that night.
I really do hope that Amir makes it through this. He means so much to me even though we haven't known each other that long.
