You guys are awesome, and again, I wish I could dedicate it to all of you, but I can't. And sorry guys, but you know the drill. First comment gets the dedication- unless I have already given them the dedication and want to give someone else a chance. Sorry, CreeperGal... ANYWAY- back to the part you all want to read.
*Fionna's POV*
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Almost 2 months later, Marshall and I were at his house when there was a knock at the door. I sighed, climbing off his lap, and adjusting my collar. "Cake just couldn't give us five minutes alone." She had accepted that we were dating, but she never trusted him. I opened the door, only to look down the barrel of a gun. "If that's how you say hello, I hate to see how you say goodbye." I said, pushing the gun to the side.
The person with the gun was a male vampire in his early twenties (no, Marshall's eternally 19), with light brown hair and red eyes, just like Marshall's. He blinked at me. "You're not Marshall Lee Abadeer."
"How would you even mistake me for him?" I asked curiously.
"He lives here, doesn't he?" The vampire asked defensively.
I didn't answer him.
"Doesn't he?!" The guy snapped.
"Why would I tell you if you just pointed a gun at me, and it was meant for him?" I snapped.
He gave a sharp bark of laughter. "That's cute- but a vampire and a human don't mix, no matter Abadeer's laws about eating red and not blood."
"Who are you, anyway?" I growled.
"Brendan Melahone." He said, looking at me and licking his lips.
"I don't know who that is- so can you please explain to me why you want to kill Marshall?"
"Because he murdered my father and stole my birthright!" Brendan snarled.
I blinked. "That doesn't sound like Marshall."
Brendan frowned. "Actually, it sounds just like him. Oh, and have you noticed that he's been gaining the trust of the last human slowly while he told the rest of the vampire world not to drink human blood before they all died due to the Lich?"
I backed away slowly. "N-no, he wouldn't-"
Suddenly, I felt someone yank me away from Brendan. Marshall appeared slowly, glaring at Brendan. "What do you want, Melahone?!"
"Three things- human blood, my father avenged, and my birthright. Two go hand in hand, and you have all three." Brendan replied.
"Don't you dare touch her!" Marshall snapped.
"Oh, I'm sorry, your majesty! I didn't know she was yours to feast on, and yours alone!"
"You idiot- I'm not going to eat her, I love her." Marshall growled.
Brendan rolled his eyes. "Love doesn't exist, Marshall. It's hormones and attraction. And one day, you're going to get tired of her, then chomp! The last human is six feet under and the vampire king broke his own laws."
"I'm not a hypocrite, unlike some people, Brendan. And leave her alone, or I will kill you. It's me that you want anyway, not her."
Brendan shrugged. "I told you- I want human blood. And yes, she is kind of cute, you know? But mainly- you took away something I loved, so why shouldn't I do the same?"
"Fine- go kill my father. An eye for an eye, a dad for a dad. But if you hurt my Fi, I won't hesitate to kill you." Marshall snarled.
"More hypocrisy." Brendan snarled back.
"No- the king can execute anyone he wants to if there is just reason." Marshall smirked.
"Oh yes, I forgot. You're the 'best king we've ever had', preserving peace, the guy who ended the vampire-demon war, who always has a fair judgment, never wanta anyone to get hurt, and you 'liberated' us from the rule of Tobias the Bloody." Brendan sneered.
That sort of sounded like Marshall- but from what I could see, he seemed to mostly avoid the vampire world. Marshall scowled. "Leave, Brendan."
"Mm... no." He said, raising his gun.
Marshall scoffed. "A gun? What, the store was out of stakes?"
Brendan laughed. "No, it's been modified to kill vampires. It's a shame you messed with the wrong family- you made a wonderful subordinate."
Marshall growled something incoherent, and I held him back before he could lunge at Brendan.
"And of course, I'll probably have to kill her too. I can't have any witnesses, and I'm looking forward to tonight's menu."
Marshall struggled. "Let me go, Fi!"
"If you attack him, he can shoot you according to your laws! Self-defense is a just reason!" I hissed.
Brendan blinked. "I hadn't thought of it like that. I was just taunting him."
I sighed. "Of course you were. Look- can you just leave us alone?! I know he killed your father, but he had a good reason! ...right, Marshall?"
He nodded. "Trust me when I say you would have done exactly the same thing. And... like father, like son."
I nodded and drew my sword. Brendan raised an eyebrow at me. "Is that demon blood?"
Marshall's eyes widened, and I shrugged. "Not from anyone I know- it's inherited from my mother. Anyway, does that really matter right now? You have a gun, I have several swords, and Marshall has an axe/guitar. And there's two of us, and one of you. Think carefully about what you're about to do. You see- if you hurt me, Marshall will hurt you. If you hurt Marshall, I will hurt you."
"You're just a-" Brendan started, but we both gave him our best death glares.
"Do I have to admit it?" Marshall asked me, sighing.
I nodded. "It would be very helpful in making Brendan go away."
Marshall muttered, just loud enough for Brendan to hear. "She once defeated me. In giant bat form. So I'd think very carefully about what you're about to do."
Brendan blinked, before smirking. "Liars."
"No no no. You don't understand. We wouldn't lie like that. Please, I am begging you, agree to fight me. I'm getting a little out of shape for one on one, and you're evil, so I can kill you and be justified." I said. What? I asked nicely.
Brendan's jaw dropped, and Marshall and I shrugged.
Then Brendan frowned. "Fine- but know this, Abadeer. I'll be back- and your human won't always be around to save you."
"I'm looking forward to that day." Marshall smirked, before Brendan disappeared.

*Author's Note*
It's not a Twilight ripoff, before you ask! James wanted to kill Bella because she was challenging- not to get back at Edward, not because she was the last human. And Brendan backed off when he found out Fionna could beat him in a fight. But he will be back! He is my new villain character! (One of them, anyway.) And I changed the backstory! Nooooo! Now I have to explain it! Well, not really... but yeah...
Okay- just because this will never come up again in the story, Olivia murdered all the humans in THIS story because... actually, no, she explains that part. She... how do I put this gently... one of my favorite OCs that I have created is a murderous arsonist. She killed the humans in their sleep by burning down their houses with the green fire. It was a quick death, at least.
Fionna was apparently one of those kids who ran off when they were little every chance they got. Her parents followed her, but they soon lost her, and instead found Olivia. But yeah. That should soften the blow of the next chapter, if nothing else.
