Jason's pov
I lay down, thinking again. There's nothing I can do for my brother so why am I still freaked?! Miranda walks in, her hands wringing. "What's up?" I ask. "How are you holding up?" "I'm uh I'm fine hun, what about you?" "Well there's an appointment for the baby." "Today?" She nods and I stand up to get ready. "Rachel's pretty upset, what with Sean being gone again.... So I was thinking after we could take her out." I can't stand thinking about Sean.

Miranda's pov
Me and Rachel were eating at huddle house, Jason didn't get anything. He was staring out the window. I'm worried. "You alright?" "Yeah. Just not hungry." He mumbles, looking down at the table. He sighs. "Questions keep on swirling around in my head. Did it hurt when he died? Was someone there with him? Or did he die alone? I just I can't even fathom that kid dyin'." I hug him tight. "I'm uh I'm just gonna go home. See ya when ya get back." He says waving and throwing a couple twenties down for the check. I sigh worried. "Man he's really torn up about this." Rachel says. I nod, picking at my food now. I have an idea.
Jason's pov
*in his dream*
I walked into our bedroom and Miranda was crying on the bed, a letter clutched in her hand. "What's wrong sweetheart?" "S-Sean... Is dead!! He got blown up!!" She sobs. I hug her tight, fighting off nausea. "We have to tell Rachel." "How the hell am I gonna tell her the love of her life is dead?! It's impossible!! I can't do it!" "She has a right to know just like-" I hear footsteps cutting my sentence short. I look to the doorway and there stands my little brother Carter. Dressed in his army uniform and a smile on his face. I shakily stand up shocked. "C-Carter?" He nods. "Hey Jason. Good to see you!" He hugs me and I glance back to my crying wife but she's gone. "C-Carter what's going on?" He sits on the bed. "You got that girl after all huh?" My face burns. "Yep." He lays back. "I'm so tired Jay." I shakily walk to the bed. "It's so cold." He whispers, closing his eyes. "Carter? Are you alright, bro?" "Of course not. I'm dead!" He sits back up. "Sorry I uh shouldn't be mad. I came to answer your questions." My questions? Oh yeah. But I don't care about them now. "All that matters is you're okay now. You're not fighting for every breath anymore." He smiles. "How uh... How did Janie turn out?" Janie was his high school girlfriend. They broke up when he left for the military. I didn't keep tabs. "I'm sure she turned out fine buddy." He hugs me again then starts to cry. I hold him in my lap. "It's not fair." He whimpers. "Of course not man, ya should still be here, tryin' your first beer with me. And playing keyboard in my shows. No one will ever be as good." "No. It's not fair! I should have gotten, the military burial thing. I fought in the military! It's not fair. My eyes go wide. "You're right Carter and I'm gonna make sure that happens. I promise you that soldier." He shakily stands up. "Sorry to be a big weak baby." I smile. "You aren't a big baby. You don't cry because you're weak. You cry because you've been strong for too long." He smiles and I stand up. "Put her there little brother." I say, extending my hand. He wipes the tears from his eyes and places his hand over mine. "Til we meet again." I whisper, a tear slipping from my eye. His hand grips my wrist and mine grips his forearm, our secret handshake. His eyes go wide. "You.... Remembered!" I nod. "Never forgot it."
*he wakes up*
Whoa that was one shocking dream. I shakily sit up and call mom. "Ma, what was Carter's sergeant's number?" She gives me his number and asks why I need it. "You'll find out in a couple of days." Miranda gets home as I'm getting off the phone. "What's up?" I swoop her into my arms and kiss her lips. Her eyes widening. I smile as she stares up at me confused. "We're gonna be parents soon." I say. She smiles. "It's about time." She jokes. I pick her back up. She grabs my shoulders then trips me. I fall back on the bed with a laugh as she pounces on me. The kisses getting heated in a matter of seconds. I'm gonna do that stuff for Carter if it's the last thing I do.
