Miranda's pov

When I get back, Jason's gone. I sigh and sit on my bed. I want to know more. I know he was telling me the truth. Sierra pats my shoulder, sympathetically and heads home. My parents hug me goodnight and I lay down.

*later*

3rd person pov

Perspiration coats her forehead and her eyes are shut tight, her teeth grit as she mumbles one word, a boy's name, the mystery boy, the cowboy, Jason.

Miranda's pov

*in the dream*

I run through a carnival tunnel with the walls and floor coated in crazy colors. "Jason? Where'd you go?" Just then his arms wrap around my waist. "Got ya cowgirl." He says. I squeal in surprise. "About time cowboy." I say, turning around and smiling. I put my hands on his cheeks and kiss him. His arms wrap tighter around my waist. "I'll love you forever." He whispers. "I'll never forget what we have." I whisper, his soft lips against mine.

*the next day*

Jason's pov

I was sitting on my front porch, thinking about everything. My mind wanders so much I didn't even notice a car pulling into the drive. I jump up in surprise when Miranda walks over. "H-Hey." I choke out waving. She smiles. "I had a dream last night." She says. What does that have to do with me? "I want to know. Did we ever go to a carnival together?" She asks, catching me off guard. How'd she know?! "Y-Yeah." "So it wasn't a dream. It was a memory." She whispers, thinking hard. She looks up at me with a smile. "I believe everything you've told me." She says. I smile too. "I'm glad because it's all true." I say. "One question." "Anything." "What caused my memory loss?" Ok anything but that!! She stares at me waiting. I sigh and hold her hand. "Before I tell you, I wanna start by saying I'm so sorry." She's obviously confused and then I tell her the story.

~flashback~

We had both been drinking pretty heavily and now I was tearing donuts in my truck on my front lawn. She was laughing up a storm and I was screaming in excitement. "Faster Jay!" She yelled so I pushed my foot harder on the gas and it kicked up faster. Then the wheel jerked from my hand and we tail spinned and flipped. I came out with a broken leg and bruised rib. But she was way worse. She was in a coma for almost 7 months and when she woke up, she didn't remember anyone but her mom and dad. When I was told she was awake, I ran into her room happiness filling me. But she said three words and my whole life shattered in a matter of seconds. Who are you?

~flashback over~

She yanks her hand away from mine. "So... It was you?! I can't remember anything because of you?!" Tears come to my eyes. "Yes, I'm so sorry. I never drank another drop of alcohol because it made me lose the most important thing in my life. You." I say, reaching for her again but she backs up. "I can't... I can't believe this! The guy I thought was my savior was the one who caused the problem!" She yells angry now. "I know baby and I regret it every day." "Don't... Don't call me that!" She backs up to her car. "Don't ever come near me again!" She drives away. Just when I thought I'd get her back. I lose her again. I hit my knees. She's right though. It is my fault. I caused this now I'm paying the price. "But I'll never stop loving you." I whisper, clutching my chest as sobs rack my body.
