Run Away

Chapter 20

"Rise and Shine!"I heard my Fathers voice echo through the halls. I cried a little inside knowing that was gonna be the last day I woke up to that.

I shook it off and got up. I put in the dress and heals they brought by for me to wear today. Afterwards I went to the stylists they hired to do our hair, makeup, and nails. While they were doing them I...ate a couple of doughnuts.

"Alright everyone to the cars!" My Dad said. I walked outside and then it dawned on me. "Hold up!" I said. I ran down To my room and grabbed my necklace Mary gave me.

I walked out to my car I was being escorted in and got in. As we began to drive to D.C I rehearsed my speech I had written over night.

As we arrived at the ceremony venue I greated the crown outside the door. There were cameras flashing and reporters trying to get interviews. I would've given one of I wasn't pushed inside the venue. We all met the President and soon the ceremony began.

"These six individuals offered there lives up to fight for the State of Virginia. They saved the Country before we could be infected by these things. I don't think we could ever repay them for what they've done. I would like to invite the leader of this team, Miss Tara Norman." The President said. I walked up into the stage as people clapped. I shook the Presidents hand before I stood behind the mic and lecturn.

I took a deep breath and then began to speak. "Thank You. Going into this operation two months ago, I was terrified, doubtful, that this team could beat the Walkers, but look where we are now. It was a lot of work, and it couldn't of been done without my team. Claire, Charlie, Max....Reece. You all are such amazing people. I couldn't imagine a better team. And Dad.....you lead us through it. I'm glad we could help get rid of them, and this may not be the best speech.....but all I can say is thank you." I say walking off the stage. They dismiss us all and we all go out to our cars.

"I'm gonna Miss you guys." I say hugging Claire, Charlie, and Max. "We will to...we will see you again though." Charlie says. "Hopefully." I say. I hug them one last time before walking to my car. I look around for Reece. I don't see him and My smile drops. I begin to get in the car but I stop. "Hey Norman." I turn around and see Reece. "Hey Buckingham." I say walking over to him. "So....we made it through the apocalypse." He says. I laugh. "I love you Reece Buckingham." I say kissing him.

I pull away and we both smile. I walk back to my car with that. I get in the car as it begins to pull away.

Finally it's over....I don't have to Run Away anymore.
