I got out of the car and started to walk down the road. Obviously Colby didn’t like me. Why else wouldn’t she want us to be seen together? My inner voice started to ramble about stuff I possibly did wrong over the weekend but in the end there was only one thing that could’ve caused her to hate me. Me sleeping in a bed with her. Alright. That wasn’t that bad. Friends do it all the time. But… I cuddled with her. And I enjoyed it. It was nice to finally have someone else than Anna. Apparently she didn’t though. That’d explain why she jumped out of bed when she woke up. It probably sounds creepy but… I’ve been up for about ten minutes and stared at her. She looked so cute when she slept. Her nose was slightly cringed and her mouth half open. One hand was covering half of her face while the other one was hanging off the side of the bed. She snored quietly and stirred all the time. Then she started to mumble about some Marine or whatever her name was. Whoever she was, she definitely was a huge part of Colby’s life. And she left. Colby said:”Please… Please don’t leave me… Not again…”. That’s what she repeated again and again. That girl must’ve hurt her pretty bad. But I was ready to make her feel better and take all her pain. I wanted to be part of her life. Why? No clue. It just felt like I needed to… Like I was supposed to…
As soon as I walked through the gates of the school people stared at me. I shifted uncomfortably from foot to foot before walking towards the doors. A few feet away a blonde girl about my height stood in front of me smiling.
»Hey, you must be the new girl.« She said. Wow… I wonder how many brain cells she had to use to guess that… Thanks Ms. Obvious!
»Yeah. That should be me.« I answered sweetly and extended my hand to her. »I’m Sam.«
»Bianca.« She grabbed my hand and shook it. »Nice to meet you. Are you in any club?« Straight forward, huh?
»Um… No. But I was in the cheerleading squad at my last school, so I’ll probably try out here.«
»That’s great!« She squealed. »Amanda, Jasmine! Come over here!« She yelled wiggling with her hands in the air. I turned around to see two girls walking towards me. But they didn’t catch my attention. A girl behind them did. Colby. She walked around with her head ducked down and her hood and headphones on. She looked… Sad… »Girls, great news! This pretty little thing here is going to try out for our squad.« Bianca grinned. She placed her hands on my shoulders and shook me lightly. »Girls, this is Sam. Sam, this is Amanda.« Her finger pointed at the red haired girl. She had green eyes, a nice body and tanned skin. »And this is Jasmine.« Jasmine was a light brown haired girl, probably two inches taller than me. Her eyes were a dark shade of brown, almost black and her skin a caramel brown. She was pretty. Like really pretty. She looked like one of those models on the cover of a Vogue. But she still couldn’t compete with Colby. Colby was… Something special. Somehow she made me want to know more about her. She made me want to spend time with her and be around her 24/7. I needed to make her like me so it was possible for me… »Hey, you coming?« Someone asked me. I turned around to see Bianca, Amanda and Jasmine in front of the entry. I walked over to them with a smile and followed. As soon as we entered the school everyone’s eyes were on us. People started to whisper and others turned to their lockers, literally sticking their heads inside. Seems like the cheerleaders here aren’t the nicest. We strode through the hallways making our way to the register when I saw a large crowd around a locker.
»What’s up with them?« I asked confused. Bianca turned around with an evil smirk playing on her lips before she grabbed my wrist and pulled me through the crowd. We stood in front of the locker and I couldn’t believe my eyes. The locker looked like somebody hit it with a baseball stick and the word “Dyke” was sprayed in bright red letters from the top to the bottom of it. »Who did this?«
