Thunderstruck

It was the second day of Team RED's vacation week. They were planning for another day at the beach, but the weather ruined their plans. Everyone except Echo wasn't bothered by the lightning. When the first bolt struck, Echo screamed and hid underneath the dining room table. She had never seen lightning this close. Since every city in the world was floating above the atmosphere, she only saw the tiny flashes from the tops of the clouds. She wasn't used to thunder either; the sound absolutely terrified her. She shrieked every time she heard thunder. Engie came by and found her underneath the table, trembling with fear. "You afraid, darlin?", he asked. She didn't answer, but flung her self into Engie's arms. "I'm not used to storms like this", she said with tears in her eyes. "Don't worry, thunder can't hurt ya. It's just a sound", he said, trying to reassure her. Another flash. She buried her face in his chest, crying. He stroked her hair, holding her tightly. This went on for an hour before the storm let up. Echo had cried herself to sleep and Engie had to carry her to her room. He gently laid her down on the bed and tucked her in. He turned out the light and gave her a kiss on her forehead. "Good night, darlin", he said and left. Echo slept peacefully that night, not having dreams.
