Busted

Echo was in her room, looking for her coping mechanism for stress. She found the small black box and opened it. It was lined with black velvet and even had a hydrometer. The device inside looked like a modern day vape, but it was completely the opposite. In her time, these devices allowed people to taste their favorite sweets without suffering the consequences like fat, sugar, etc. The chemicals inside make the taste, but don't harm the human body in any way possible. The chemical has to be released from the mouth in a smoky vapor. She put the nozzle to her mouth and breathed, the taste of cheesecake stimulating her taste buds. She exhaled and the smoke drifted out, the smell of cheesecake invading the air. She put the device back in the box and locked it. She hid it under her bed, and went back to the mess hall to join the guys, unaware that someone was watching her. "Busted", Spy said, uncloaking himself and following her. After everyone ate lunch, she went back to her room for another taste. She looked in the usual spot, but it wasn't there. She looked everywhere and couldn't find it. Echo started to freak out. "Looking for something", she heard a voice say. She knew who it was. She turned and saw Spy sitting on the bed, smoking a cigarette. She got up in his face and asked harshly,"Where is it?" "I gave it to Medic." She left her room and went into the med-bay. She looked around and found it on a high shelf. She reached up and grabbed it, thankful she was wearing her high heels. She was about to leave when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and saw Medic with a sad look on his face. He saw the box in her hands and frowned. "You need help, frau. This isn't healthy." She sighed in irritation. "It's fine. It doesn't harm me." She explained the entire process to him and he nodded in understanding. "I think I get it now", he said. "Can I have it back now?", she asked irritability. "Ja, you can have it." She left, wanting to taste cheesecake again.
