Another day, another fight. It was just the same for Echo, but this fight made her lose something important. Her left eye. An enemy Medic poked her eye out with a syringe and the respawn system didn't fix it. Her left eyelid remained closed and it was difficult to see where she was going. She thought it was over, but then an idea came to her. She could just build her own robotic eye. She would need a lot of materials though, and she knew just where to get them.
5 minutes later...
Echo returned with some robotic parts, a hyperspectral camera, some biomechanical wiring and some blue topaz to match the color of her right eye. She immediately started working on her eye the second she got back. Later on, she started getting really tired. "Maybe I could rest my eye for a little", she thought to herself. Instead of resting for a little while, she fell asleep. Medic came in and put a blanket over her shoulders. Echo woke up later and got back to work.
3 days later...
It was finally done. The eye looked almost identical to a human's. She hadn't slept for a solid 96 hours, but it was worth it. All she had to do was implant it, and she knew who to ask. She went over to Medic's room and knocked on the door. He answered, looking like he just woke up. His hair was messy, he wasn't wearing his glasses, but the most pronounced difference was that he didn't have a shirt on. "Guten Abend, Echo. Do you need anything?" She snapped back to reality and held up the eye for him to see. "I need you to implant this for me." He took the eye and examined it. "Let me see what I can do." He led her to the med-bay and told her to lie down on the cot. She obeyed. He went over to the desk and brought out a vial and a syringe. She knew it was anasthetic. He went over to her and gave the syringe a little flick before injecting the fluid. The anasthetic immediately started working, Echo was already starting to feel woozy. Medic held her hand as she slipped into darkness. After a few minutes, she woke up with her left eye feeling sore. Medic was still holding her hand, rubbing his thumb over the top of her hand. "How do you feel, frau?" She got up and rubbed the area near her left eye. There was a bandage across the area. "My eye feels sore. Is it implanted?", she said. He nodded. "Can I take off the cloth?" He nodded again. She took it off and she could see perfectly. She jumped up in excitement and started to dance around the room. Medic watched her in joy. She turned to face him and ran to hug him. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Echo looked up at him, but then his look changed, as if he saw a ghost. "What? Is something wrong?" He went over to the desk to pick up a mirror and she saw what had made him look scared. The white of her left eye had turned completely black. She wasn't alarmed, it was common for this to happen to people with robotic eyes. She has always been told her eyes were strange due to their intense blue color. She always had strange eyes.
