Quote: Become who you are

I grab the closest weapon I could find; a knife, and put it in my back pocket. I open the door slowly. When it's cracked open just enough to see who's on the other side, a mist of confusion passes through me. It's Grace.

"Uh, hi," I say.
"Hi," she says, biting her lip. "I just wanted to let you know that your training is over,"
"What?" I raise my eyebrows at her. "Why?!"
"You passed the test, right?" Grace looks down.
"Where's Aidan, I need to talk to him!" I already start putting my shoes on.
"No," she snaps abruptly.
Startled by the sudden and sharp word, I slowly focus my eyes back on Grace. A hint of sadness appears in her eyes, and as I look closer, I see tear forming.
"No..." Her voice softens. "He-"
Grace stops and stares at the camera in the back of the room. I have only noticed that camera yesterday when I woke up, it doesn't bother me, but it should.
"Follow me," She looks at me sharply. "I want to show you something... in the training room."

Grace doesn't go to the training room. But instead, she takes me towards the bathroom. She walks past the door and up to a wall. Grace glances behind us, searching for the nearest camera. It's far enough for us not to appear on the footage. Then she searches for any other people, and when it's clear, she places her hand on the wall. Her fingers meet together, then, in one swift motion, they spread apart, revealing an electronic keypad. Grace types the password so quick I can't read it.

"Open sesame," she murmurs under her breath.

A small door reveals itself. I frown when I realize its height only reaches my chin. Grace and I duck and walk through, and as soon as we do, I hear the secret door close behind us.

"Ooh, creepy," I say in a childish voice.

To my surprise, Grace laughs at this. We spring up to a standing position once we've made it through. It's a dark room, barely any light, but just enough to look around. There's an old couch, torn at the sides. In front there lays a small table with an empty bottle and couple of empty glasses. Grace opens a fridge and offers me a drink.

"Gross," I say.
"Ahh, I forgot that you're still underage," she opens the bottle and pours some liquid in her mouth.
"How do you...?" Curiosity and suspiciousness filling my insides.
"It's in your files," she pours more down her throat.
"You saw my files? I have files here?" Too many questions rushing into my head.
"Yeah, everyone that's Broken has files here, and Aidan read your files before you got here. And he told me how old you are,"

A bit of anger forms within me; why would Aidan tell her how old I am? What else has he told her.

"Why did you bring me here?" I say as evenly as I can.
"I-" Grace is interrupted by a clear voice. A boy's voice.
"Enough of this," the voice says.

The boy reveals himself. Aidan. My arm flinches to my back pocket, remembering that I still have a knife. Normally, I'd trust Aidan, but after what happened with Toby and I, it'll be harder for anyone at BFC to gain my trust. Except for Tay and Jeff.

"What's going on?" I narrow my eyes.
"Calm down, Jordyn," Aidan says calmly, putting his hand out.
"What's happening?!" A bit of fear in my voice.
"Just-" Aidan shakes his head.

I loose control. My hand squeezes against the knife handle and I whip it out of my pocket, aiming it at Aidan and Grace. Aidan's eyes widen and Grace's mouth drops slightly. I don't like the idea of being trapped in a room alone with two people I barely know.

"Tell me what's going on!" A couple of tears rush into my eyes.
"Okay," Aidan's voice is a little shaky. "The Unknown- the people who kidnapped you -are gonna come to BFC. Their plan is to take or even kill all the Brokens, for the same reason they took you,"
"Which is?" I start to lower the knife.
"They want to become Broken again, and use you guys as tests to find out how. We were gonna escape," he says.
"How do you know their plan?" I narrow my eyes at him suspiciously.
"When Jeff came to get you from that place, he found a walkie-talkie on the ground. He listened to the Unknown's conversations and heard small pieces of their plan, bit by bit. When he found out their main plan, he came down here and told us the plan."
"But what about all the other people here," I frown. "All these other innocent people. We can't just leave them here and let them die!"

Aidan shakes his head.

"Look, if the Unknown are gonna do the same thing to BFC as they did to me," I look down. "I... I can't let that happen. To anybody! I say we let the whole facility know right now, evacuate them to multiple different safe houses, before the Unknown comes."

Aidan and Grace exchange a glance.

"Sounds like a plan to me," Grace says.

I start to put my knife back in my pocket, when I feel Aidan's hand touch mine.

"I would keep that in my hand if I were you," he says.

|Hello there again! I wanted to let you know that I've finally decided how long I'm gonna make this story; not more than 30 parts. I was thinking around maybe 25 parts. So yes, it's almost over. I'm not sure if I should do a sequel or even a prequel after this. In fact, I'm not sure what I'm gonna write after this. So thanks for reading, if you still are!|
