It was a few days after the trial. They continued on without me according to my lawyer after I had left. I just couldn't handle it. Luckily, there was a witness who took the stand and cameras caught the whole incident. Cam Kellington was convicted of assault and battery and was sentenced to 3 years in prison. That was good enough for me. At least he was off the streets for three years.
But, there was one thing missing from my life. I had my mom, sister, Aunt Maisie, my estranged father. I didn't want to admit it, but I missed Jace tremendously. So much that I could cry.
I decided to go over to his apartment to pay a visit. He'd be surprised to see me and more likely to talk, which is what I wanted to do. Talk.
I reached his apartment, which was a forty minute drive from mine in the hectic New York traffic. I knocked the door and waited for a response.
"One second." I heard him say from behind the door.
Oh how I missed his voice.
"Hey!" He said as he opened the door before he realized it was me.
"Hi." I said blankly, emotionless. I was shocked by what I was seeing. There was a girl on his couch covered in a towel. He was shirtless.
"Callie.... I." He tried to say as I put my finger on his mouth.
"Just shut it!" I said, as I turned to walk away. I could feel the tears starting to form.
"Please wait!" He said as he grabbed my hand, pulling me back.
"What do you want, huh?" I asked with anger in my voice. "Just go back to your little whore, you cheater!" I said as tears rolled down my cheeks. I had never been so hurt and humiliated.
"I'm sorry. I can explain." He said. I could hear the emotion in his voice.
"I think I'll go." The girl said as she quickly ran out of the apartment.
