His Urge

They say that want you til they got you
Because honestly they want what they can't have
I can tell them I'm a lot to deal with
But it's all these warnings they choose to look past

In the back of my mind I know what's going to happen
I know there's too much eccentricity to my essence
Too much authenticity in my presence
I just know they can't handle it

They choose to reach for me anyway
They think they can be the man
"You really can't handle me," I say
But they try to prove that they can

Don't touch me you'll get burned
You can't handle my fiery light
But you can't help it
You can't hold it
You're like a moth in the night
I'm like a urge you can't fight
A beauty in your sight
And I know it's not right

To submit to your pleads
With the passion that you give me
But baby, you got me weak in the knees
Like ima fall to my feet
It's not a want it's a need
This love between you and me
We can give and receive

I'm silently hoping that it won't end the same as the others
Where my love is overwhelming
So they run like a child to their mother

I believed we could be soulmates
I thought his eyes could see
They never seem to be ready to be
Which is funny because, at one point, they seemed man enough to me

But it's sad to find out
That maybe I was just a chance they couldn't miss
And so my love burned them
And I was just an urge they couldn't resist
