Jacobs POV
It is already a week into school. I have about 5 or 6 guy friends and Laila to hang with. 2 of my guy friends moved to different schools and another , well we just drifted apart. After we left elementary some friendships broke apart due to diversity.
I'm just glad I still have Cole and Kennedy...and especially Laila. Cole and Kennedy and I have been friends since second grade. When they moved here they were lonely, and I befriended them. We have been best bros since.
We are not as close friends as Laila and I but that's ok. Laila is special like that.
" Hey bro" Cole says.
" ya what's up , you look kind of down" says Kennedy. They were right. Ever since my other friends have left things have changed. Some kids bully me now. I can say I'm not popular.
Kennedy, Cole, and Laila are my only close friends. Kids make fun of me because of that. I also get picked on for being my self. If I be myself, I'm a dorky little kid that enjoys acting , swimming, basketball.
I was on a swim team for a couple years and I got pretty good. I'm also still into acting. I still remember my first big play. It was with Laila. It was " the Jungle Book". Laila and I still attend YAT or young actors theatre. ( I'm just going to call it YAT).
My goal with acting to have an impact on people's lives, because It's what makes me happy.
I continue to talk to Kennedy and Cole when Laila walks up. Kennedy and Cole are friends with Laila too. I had an idea to cheer us up.
" hey guys , do you wanna have a sleep over at my house tonight?" I ask.
" yeah!" All three of them shout. Laila and I have had sleep overs before even tho I'm a boy and she is a girl.
We always make forts in the living room with my sister Caroline and sleep inside them with sleeping bags. Maybe we can do that again but make the fort bigger for Kennedy and Cole.
" great! I'll see you guys after school then. " I say.
Laila's POV
Is time to go plan another famous Jacob and Laila sleep over! I ask my mom if I could over before and help set up. She said yes.
I skip over to Jacobs house and climb up our tree up to his balcony. There is tree that has a little play house built in by Jacobs balcony that Jacob and I call the Best Freimd Tree. When we were little we would pretend we were pirates and princesses. Those were good times. I place my hand on a branch and feel the carving of our names. The day we did that was a blast. I knock on the window and scare Jacob. He falls out of his chair and laughs.
But once he lets me in I go get Caroline to help sent up the fort. This time we make it in his family room because it can be bigger.

Jacob and I were I side making finger shadows on the sheet when we hear a knock on the door, we opened it to Cole and Kennedy.
We run out of the fort or answer the door. Both brought snack to add to ours. Once we show them around we bring them in the fort. As a group of 4 we decided to make a pact.
" do you Cole , Kennedy, and Laila promise from this day forwards that we will stay best friends until we graduate high school, and that no matter when we will trust each other and keep no secrets. " Jacob says.
The three of us said "I do" in unison. We are now forever friends. We all group hug and continue to have fun. We played hide and go seek and cops and robbers. We finally got bored and went back to the fort. By this time. Jacobs parents and sister went to bed so we had to be quiet.
Jacobs POV
" Hey, why don't we play truth or dare?" I say. The three of them agree. Ok lets begin.
" I'll start" Laila says. " Cole , truth or dare?"
" truth" Cole says.
" aww your such a party pooper" I say.
" ok, what's the best thing about being friends with us?" I say.
Cole replys " well, you guys are they best. We stick together through everything. "
we all smile and tell Cole we feel the same way. By this time it's my turn.
"Laila , truth or dare?" I ask.
" uh, dare!" Laila says. She always picks dare. Over the years I've run out of things to ask her. I'll ask Kennedy and Cole what to do.
" Laila cover yours ears, ok guys what do I dare her to do? " I ask them.
" dare her to kiss you!"
" uh that's kinda weird" I tell them. I was thinking about it and I actually would of minded if she kissed me. I've always kind of had feelings for her. But idk if she would mind or not.
"Ok I'll do it " I say.
" ok Laila , I dare you to kiss me. " she had a blank stare. I wonder what she is thinking.
Laila's POV
I remember the last time I kissed Jacob. It was on his cheek. I remember the feeling. It was magical, yet I've never kissed him on the lips. What would it do to our friendship? I shake it off. I mean it's only a game, so I agree. I lean in, here goes nothing. He looks so peaceful his eyes are closed his lips are puckered. I quickly lean in, and kiss him softly. He kisses back. It felt magical. More so than the last time. There were sparks. I pull away after a short second and Kennedy and Cole say " ooooooo, Jacob kissed a girl!"
We all break out laughing. We had enough so we all went to bed. All I could think about was that kiss. I'm only 11 but what would this do to our future?
Jacobs POV
Wow...just wow. My feelings for Laila got stronger that night. It was amazing. I look down at my charm bracelet and smile. I slowly drift to sleep.
* shaking* " stop it" I say not opening my eyes to see what was going on.
* shaking * this time I open my eyes to see Laila.
" what's wrong? Why did you wake me up?" I ask.
" I had a bad dream. Can we talk?" We get out of the fort and walk out on my balcony. We climb up on to our tree. We sit in a branch looking at the stars.
" so what up? " I ask Laila.
" I had a nightmare that we weren't friends anymore. It was they worst thing ever!" She said. I asked why she would had thy dream. She said it was because she notices I was getting bullied at school for being her friend.
She said she stopped being my friend so I wouldn't get bullied anymore, then she said thats when the end of her dream when she woke up. I hugged her to comfort her. After she calmed down we went back to bed. This time she moves her sleeping bad next to mine. We stared into each others eyes until we finally fell asleep.
