Chapter 15: New Paths

"Hey, Megs, I'll talk to you later, don't in class though, school comes first!"

"Haha, of course! I'll talk to you afterschool!" I said.

"Are we on tonight?"

"Of course we are! See you tonight!"

It's been about 2 weeks since Josh and I last spoke to each other. We've ignored gazes for the last couple of days, and I've hurt so much because of it. Of course, I never expressed it, because of the embarrassment I've already put myself in. Every little thing reminded me of Josh, even just the door closing. I was an emotional wreck, and nothing could help me.  

"Hey there Megs! How's my best friend's girlfriend going?" asked Alex.

"...Javier and I aren't dating..."

"I know, but he talks about you so much it just seems as if you guys are!"

"We hung out at the mall a couple times and saw 2 movies together...that's about it..."

"So? You and Josh are done, why does it matter?"

Josh and I done? I still couldn't accept it.

"Sorry Megs! I just thought maybe we could double date yenno..."

I wasn't sure if I wanted to date Javier. We were just friends, and I wasn't ready to have a boyfriend.

"Look, even just hanging out with you guys would be great, just find me later!"

I half smiled and then walked to my locker. As I heard the clicks of the lock and the swing of the door, I gazed at the pictures hiding in the back of my locker of Josh and I. I was torturing myself and I didn't want to stop. I knew that if that pain weren't there, then I would have lost Josh forever. I loved Josh, but he hurt me. I hurt myself more ending it with Josh though. 

"Okay, you are an emotional wreck and you need a night out!" said Robyn as she pushed my locker door open.

I looked at her with a depressed emotion.

"Hey, look not here...do you really want him to see this part of you? All I've seen from him is that he's moving on!" said Robin.

"Wha---what do you mean?" I said surprised.

"I mean he's been really clingy to Jennica lately..."

"You're playing me..."

"No I'm not, you should see them downstairs!"

"I—I—I can't believe it..."

"It's a sign, you should move on..." said Robyn.

Maybe my friends were right. I needed a change in scenery right now; guy scenery that is. Maybe I needed to take that next step to get over Josh. After all, that was how I had dealt with it in the past. That was sure, I had definitely determined that my goal for the end of the week was to get over Josh. I walked down the hallway to where Rox was with Alex.

"Hey Alex!"

"What's up Megs?"

"Yenno that double date you were talking about?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm so in!"

"Wait what double date?" asked Rox.

"We're going on a double date with Javier and Megan!" surprised Alex.

Rox jumped up and hugged Alex.

"Wait, but I thought you and Javier were just friends...." said Rox.

"I decided I needed a new change in scenery...after all everyone's gotten over the break up except for me!" I replied.

"Well, it's good your trying! Just don't overdo it!"

"Don't worry, if worse comes to worse, Javier and I are friends, that's all!"

"Good plan!"

"I learn from the best!"

Rox and I smiled and then I walked off so that they could have their own alone time together. Now was a good time to get over Josh. He was moving on, and so was I. As long as we were both done with each other, then it would be good for the both of us. I just wasn't sure if I was over us, but I would find out tomorrow night. Now was time to get rid of those pictures and take the next step forward.
