Finally, it was time for lunch. I walked with Robyn to the line-up and then we waited in line for the hotdogs. As I walked out of the MPR with my hotdogs, soda, and ice-cream, I almost ran into my Josh.
"Sorry love!" he said.
"No worries, by the way, we need to talk." I said.
"Oh...okay yeah sure! Come find me later..."
"Okay, will do!"
I walked out and stood outside waiting for my friends. I went over the scenario I had just had with Josh over in my head and realized that I had told him we needed to talk. I didn't really smile or anything, so he could have easily taken that the wrong way. I wanted to find Josh and clear it up with him right away. I had no intent on breaking up with Josh, I wanted the exact opposite. I wanted to be with Josh for the summer and as long as I could be with him.
My friends and I sat down on the curb absorbing the summer sun.
"What did you talk to Josh about?" asked Robyn.
"I told him we needed to talk..." I replied.
"Wait, are you breaking up with him?" asked Mihika.
"No never! I love him...I just think I phrased it wrong..."
"Awwh, poor guy! He thinks your gonna dump him!" said Robin.
"But she isn't...Megan just sucks at talking to people!" said Robyn.
"Hey! I communicate perfectly fine! I just slip up once in awhile and make my boyfriend feel like I'm gonna break up with him...." I said.
"Yeupp, definitely perfect communication..." said Mihika in a condescending tone.
"Shut up!" I replied.
I turned around and scanned the area around us. Josh was standing at the grill with Steven, William, Jordan, Moreno, and Renzo. He looked my way, and he had a slightly worried look on his face. His friends turned to look, and I quickly looked away. I knew I was giving off the vibe that I wanted to break up, but I really didn't mean to. It kind of just happened, so I decided to play with Josh's emotions for a little bit, just because he loved to play with mine. I turned to my friends and tuned back into their conversation.
A couple minutes later, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and William was standing behind me.
"Hey Megan, can I talk to you for a second?" he asked.
Of course Josh would send Will over to see if I was gonna break up with him. He always needed to know.
"Yeah, of course!" I replied as I got up and sat down not too far away on the curb.
William sat down beside me and we talked.
"So Josh told me you wanted to talk to him..."
"Yeah, I need to talk to him..."
"About what?"
"You're being nosy aren't you!"
"Just trying to help my best friend out..."
"You should tell your best friend to come over here so I can talk to him, they he can spill the beans to you..."
"Then I have to tell the boys I failed my mission! I don't want to do that!"
"William...you already failed..."
"Ouch...Megan that's gonna hurt! Are you always so cold before you break up with someone?"
"Maybe..."
"I'm thinking I shouldn't tell Josh to come over...I have a feeling I know what might happen..."
"Who knows, something might surprise you..."
"Doubt it...Just know that Josh is crazy about you, and the two of you make a really great pair..."
"Thanks Will, now go get your bestfriend/my boyfriend!"
William got up and walked back over to the boys. Robyn leaned over and peered at me. She gave me the shame finger and the tsk tsk's to go along with it.
"I'm not the only one who can play games!" I said to Robyn.
She laughed and then turned back to Mihika and Robin.
"Hey there," said Josh as he sat down beside me. It looked as if he was ready to embrace the worst.
"I've been thinking a lot..." I started.
"If you want to break up, just do it...but just know that I don't want you to do it! I don't even know where I went wrong!"
I looked to Josh and kissed him. "I don't want to break up with you...I want to hang out again!"
Josh was stunned.
"Hello? Earth to boyfriend?"
Josh snapped out of his daze and then kissed me again. "Are you serious Megs? You aren't playing me?"
"Well I was earlier when I gave off the vibe that I wanted to break up...but I think it makes up for all the times you've tricked me into believing something..."
Josh was silent. "Dang, I've taught my girlfriend well!"
I laughed and then leaned into him.
I loved Josh a lot. He just made me so happy. We sat together as Josh kissed my temples. He knew that it made me relax. Josh kissed my cheek and then I stood up.
"Where are we going?" asked Josh.
"Wherever, let's just have you and I together without any distractions!" I said.
"Ooh! I like that idea!" said Josh as he grabbed my hands and I pulled him up. Josh pulled me to him and then hugged me.
"Not like that!" I said as I pushed him away and laughed.
"Darn, well I love spending time with you anyways!" said Josh.
I smiled and pulled Josh onto the field. We sat down in the middle of the field and talked about whatever.
"We need to have more dates again!" I stated.
"I promise as soon as exams finish, we can hang out whenever!" said Josh.
"We should go biking at Stanley Park! Oh and we should do that movie thing under the stars! Wait, we should also go to the beach! And let's go ziplining and go carting!" I started to suggest.
"Whoa Megs! One thing at a time! We can do it this summer, we just gotta let what we have infront of us go by!" said Josh.
"Oh, right, haha!" I said.
"I like just being with you here...right now feels like what we should be doing..."
"Oh...so no dates?"
"No, I mean, like right now...this moment right here!"
I smiled and leaned in towards Josh. I was so excited to spend my summer with this kid. I was ready for an exciting summer.
