Finally Monday came around, and I woke up around 10am. I was supposed to be at Josh's at around lunch time. I quickly got ready and then drove off to Josh's house. As I got closer to Josh's house, my heart was racing. I started to worry about what Josh's reaction would be. I needed to do it though because I was sick and tired of him lying to me. It didn't help that it just randomly rained today. The mood was already dreary. I pulled up to Josh's house and sat in the car thinking about what I was gonna say to Josh and how I was gonna say it exactly. I got a text from my friends.
Hey, whatever happens today, I'm here for you! – Robin
Dump his sorry ass! Afterwards, we can go have ice-cream! – Robyn
Goodluck with the dumping! – Mihika.
At least I know my friends were supportive, somewhat. I decided it was now or never. I threw on my coat and then hopped out of my car. I locked it and then ran to the door and rang the doorbell. It was pouring outside and I guess the weather fit the mood. I heard someone running down the stairs to the landing. Josh peered out the window, saw me, gasped, and then turned to the mirror and started fixing his hair. I laughed at his silliness, and then caught myself and stopped.
"Josh, open the door! It's pouring out here!" I said.
Josh looked to the door, and pretended not to hear me.
"Josh, I'm serious!" I said.
Josh smiled and then opened the door.
"Hey there Beautiful! I just had to fix my hair!" said Josh as he leaned in to kiss me.
I stepped back.
"Oh c'mon! Megs! I was just joking!"
"Yeah, I know, I need to talk to you!"
"Oh, well come in first and get cozy...I hate to see you standing in the rain..."
"Oh, well thanks..." I said as I walked in.
"Here, let me get that..." Josh said as he tried to pull off my jacket.
"No, it's okay..." I said.
"No, if we're gonna talk, we need to do it on the couch, so I know you're not gonna run away from me..." said Josh.
I looked at him, and then gave in. It was the least I owed him before I ended it. I took off my coat and my boots. I walked up the stairs and sat on the couch. Josh sat beside me and wrapped his arm around me. I backed away and sat down on the other end of the couch.
"Megan, what's going on...I've sensed a bad vibe from you since you walked in..."
"Josh, we're done...."
"What? Why?"
"Josh, you know exactly why!"
"Megan, I don't understand! Please tell me!"
"Can you stop lying to me?"
"Lying to you! When did I ever lie to you?"
"Truth or not? You were with another girl at Nadia's?"
"Truth...but I can explain!"
"No, just stop Josh! I'm done with you lying and breaking your promises to me! Ever since that day that it all went wrong, our relationship has gone downhill and you know it!"
"Megan! I'm trying! Please believe me!"
"I can't...I'm done! I can't keep having my heart break every single time you go out!"
"Megan! I don't intend for you to be heartbroken!"
"What is it then? You just magically make our promises disappear and reappear???"
"No, Megan! Let me please explain! Before you end it, let me explain!"
"Josh, what is there to explain! If you're gonna just try and make me rethink my decision, it isn't worth it because I'm not gonna budge!"
"Yes it is worth doing, because our relationship is worth salvaging! I know I haven't been the best boyfriend around, but I promise you that this is the last time ever and it won't happen again, because I'm crazy about you! I love you so much Megan! No other girl is worth a second look if I have you!"
"Josh, you've promised me this countless times, and I know we have a history and it's crazy to think I'd end it based on our history, but lately it's been bad and you know it! We've been prolonging this, and now's the time to end it...you have the summer to get over me, and I have the summer to get over you!"
"Megan, I don't want to spend my summer without you!"
"Yet you will spend countless amounts of parties with other girls!"
"I'm trying not to Megan! It's just...."
"It's just what Josh? Am I not good enough for you? Am I not pretty enough? Am I not tall enough for you? Because every time this happens, it sure as hell feel like it!"
"Megan, you're perfect! You're more than perfect! You're the greatest thing that's ever happened to me, and I can't let you go over one silly mistake..."
"Make that thousands of little mistakes...I'm done with this all Josh...."
"Megan, please! Don't do this!"
"Josh, I have to...because I don't trust you anymore..."
"Megan, I can regain your trust..."
"You know what! You're just like all the other guys!"
"No I'm not Megan! I'm different! Why else would you fall for me?"
"I fell for you, because I found someone who could make me laugh till it hurt and smile because of the little things. I fell for you because I thought you were cute and I know for a fact that you were just as shy as I was. I fell for you, because I thought that I wouldn't ever get hurt by you...but I was wrong!"
Tears started falling down my face as I expressed my feelings to Josh. Before Josh could get up and hug me, I got up and ran down the stairs to the door. I put on my coat and then my boots. I opened the door and Josh stood behind me.
"Megan don't go! I love you because you're so forgiving. You love to help others. That smile and laugh you have is so contagious, and it makes me want to make you smile and laugh! I love that you're shy because it means I get to see a deeper side to you, and I love the real you! Please don't leave. You complete me babe! Don't go!" said Josh as he nuzzled into my neck.
"I'm sorry, but it hurts too much to be with you..."
I walked away, and never came back.
