Chapter 1~This Start of Mine

I wake up to the sound of Hummingbirds singing outside my window. Perched perfectly still as if arranged by a musician, I silently thank them for not having to listen to that monstorous alarm go off. Swinging my feet over my bed, I walk up to my windowsill and open the window letting the golden rays take over my room. I take in the feeling on the sun's heat beating down on my face, man, do I love Nature. I look at my clock and see that its 7:45 I only have half an hour to get ready and another half hour to get to school. I think to myself. Within 10 minutes, I'm done brushing my teeth and fixing my hair into a French braid, thank God I took a shower last night I think to myself. Rummaging through my closet, I pick out a long sleeve tan designer Gucci dress, throw on a teal blazer, pin on a matching silky tan hijab and dazzle my feet with some teal diamond gladiators. I was always a fan of simplicity despite it being the first day of school again. With a sigh, I wonder what this year will bring. As I grab my Puma backpack from my dresser, I also grab my car keys and answer my incoming Facetime. As I look to see who it is I smile with delight

"Hey gurl! You ready for Junior year at your new school? Because I know I am" Aliyah teases wiggling her eyebrows in an enthusiastic voice

"You already know! But holla to your outfit though! Love the burgundy and white theme going on, brings out your eyes" I say with a wink

"Thanks gurly, but we can discuss looks later, per say after you come pick me up"

"Haha, I knew you had a catch to face timing me and complimenting, your mom leave you again?" I inquire as I take my Mushaf knowing I can't leave it behind

"Nawhh... My mom had an early shift this morning, Ahmed took the school bus and Dad is still sleeping"

"Alright Inshaa"Allah I'll be there in 10 minutes gal
" I reply with a genuine smile

"Thanks habibti, you're the best, much love" She says blowing me a kiss through the screen

"Lawls only when I want to be, Salaams" I say before I can hang up

"Salaams gurly" she replies

With that, I make my way downstairs and greet my aunt and uncle pecking them both on the cheeks, while passing by Mikhail and ruffling his hair

"Salaams everyone! May Allah bless your today and remember to smileee!" I say as I pour milk into a glass

"Sabirah,where you going?" Mikhail asks with his mouth full of eggs and his beautiful brown eyes wide

"To school Mickey, where you'll be going today" I assure him with a smile.

"But I don't want to go to school!" He starts crying and wailing

"Thanks Sabirah, now we have to think of someway else to bribe him" My aunt retorts trying to soothe him down

"Sorry aunty, I didn't mean to scare him, but if that's the case, I should cry about school too having it be my first day and all ya know?" I add with a wink

"Haha, very funny, now go get, I don't want my future doctor being late for school fooling around" She motions shooing me away with her hands

"Hey! Now who said that doctors can't have fun?" My uncle chimes looking up from his iPad

"Tell em' Uncle, by the way guess who finished the Quran yesterday in Dugsi?!" I glee in excitement

" My baby gurl, the daughter I never had that's who!" He says getting up from his seat to give me a bear hug "Mash 'Allah Mabrouk habibti, may Allah bless your soul" He finishes before kissing the top of my head and letting me go
