Ya'll..
---
Avery Jordan
"No."
"Why not?" I asked, feeling disappointed. "Lots of people go ice-skating, August. Why are you frightened?"
"For one, I ain't frightened." He said, mocking me.
"Two, I'm black, Ave. Black folks don't do that shit. Plus it's cold as hell outside. We'll go when it's hot."
"You can't ice-skate if it's hot, August."
"Exactly." He said, smiling as he placed a soft kiss on my lips.
"But, Aug--"
"No, Avery. Final answer."
August Alsina
"August, this is going to be so much fun!" Avery said as we pulled up to tha skatin rink.
I just looked at ha. I had no comments.
"Babe, really? You need to step outside of your comfort zone."
"I'm comfortable in my comfort zone." I told ha.
She side-eyed me and put on ha skates.
"Do you know how many injuries happen out hea'?"
"Nope." She said bluntly and started tying ha shoes.
"Well let's ask Siri, shall we?" I pulled my phone out. "Siri, how many deaths happen because of dumbass ice-skatin'?"
"August, stop being dramatic."
"Nahh. Let Siri speak." I said. "Siri?"
"No exact number can be determined to answer this question, however, inexperienced skaters are at high risks of injuries caused by falls, due to their lack of expertise."
"Thank you, Siri." I said and looked over at Avery.
"August, put on the skates."
I sighed and put them on. "She want me to die." I said to myself.
I straightened my hat and put on my gloves before we got out tha car.
I looked out at everybody hea'. Not one black face in sight.
"You ready?" She asked me.
Avery Jordan
"August, watch out for the table!" I said, which did no good, because he hit it anyway.
"Yo fault, bruhh." He said in pain as I tried to control my laughter, but it didn't help.
"I'll run you a hot bath to loosen your muscles." I said, still laughing.
"If you would've listened to Siri, we wouldn't be in this predicament right na'."
I walked off, still laughing. I decided to use the bathroom on the first floor to spare him the pain of walking up the steps.
He fell at least 13 times, and said shoes weren't made to keep a person upright on only one blade.
"August, come on."
He came in with a scowl on his face as he looked at me, only bringing back my laughing fit.
He undressed himself and laid back in the tub.
"You feeling better?" I asked him.
"No. I'm still tense. Everywhere. I need a massage."
I chuckled and undressed myself. I've gotten much more comfortable around him. In the beginning of our relationship, I was distant. I'd keep my towel around me as I got out of the shower, not letting him see anything. This act alone shows how far we've come.
