Chapter Thirty. 

We all started to get ready, I started to curl my hair while Mikayla straightened hers and Sam and Janey started on each other’s make-up. After we were done we switched. After that we all got changed into our costumes, I was really starting to get excited.

We were all finally ready at 6.30 and we all headed downstairs to sort out the house.

“I love my costume” Mikayla said admiring herself in the mirror at the bottom of the stairs.

“Mikayla” Sam said. She then turned around and realized we were all watching her, she turned bright red.

The downstairs was already decorated, Alex must have done it all with my family. The ceiling was covered with small pumpkin lights and cobwebs. There was a table covered in snacks and alcohol and next to it standing there was Alex. He was a vampire; he had a big black cape, fangs and fake blood coming down from his mouth. I walked over to him.

“Looking good,” he said looking me up and down.

“Back at ya” I said pointing at him and clicking my tongue.

“So what do you think of the place” my mother said walking in from the kitchen.

“It looks good,” I said smiling.

“Good! That’s all I get for 2 hours hard work?” she said mock shocked.

“Okay, it’s the best Halloween decorations I’ve ever seen” I said over dramatically, she laughed and walked back into the kitchen.

At 6.45 people started arriving. I opened the door to see Dan and all his friends. I invited them in, even though I didn’t know half of them. As soon as they were in they spotted Alex standing in the corner talking to Mikayla, they all started shouting. After a few minutes of Dan turning up Connor was at the door. Janey started to panic.

“Calm down, just go talk to him” I said putting my hands on her shoulders.

“Okay, okay, okay, I’ll do it” she said making her way towards Connor but halfway there she turned around and walked back to me.

“I can’t do it!” she squealed as the doorbell rang.

“I’ll be right back” I said making my way to the door. Tom and his friends were there, Sam came running over and kissed Tom passionately on the lips, this had been her longest relationship with a boy.

I left her at the door with the boys and headed back to Janey, who had now disappeared, I tried to find Mikayla to see if she’d seen her but I couldn’t find her either, so then I found Alex.

“Alex!” I shouted. My house wasn’t very small but when there are about 30 people dancing and music playing really loud it’s hard to find people. I grabbed a glass of vodka and lemonade and headed to get Alex. He was surrounded by a group of boys talking about football.

“Alex” I said grabbing him by the arm out of the way.

“Have you seen Janey?” I said whispering in his ear.
