Beep! Beep! Beep!
Bleughhh....... Stupid alarm.....
My hand reached over and smacked the snooze button on the digital clock.
The beeping ceased and maids began coming in. They said their good mornings to me before going to do what they needed to do.
I made my way to the bathroom and cleaned myself up.
When I went back into my bedroom, my uniform had been set out on my bed with my school bag next to it.
I quickly got dressed and slipped the school bag on.
Brief, short knocks on the door.
"Miss Ave, breakfast?" Finn asked before opening the door and I walked past.
"No. I'm good. I gotta go." I replied back and gave him a warm smile.
Before he could question further, I grabbed my lunch from the maids then quickly ran out the front door.
"See you Finn!" I called out and then started jogging to the way to school.
I let out a sigh of relief.
I just made it!
Avoiding Finn and my dad have been the main things I've been doing. By the time I made it to school, the bell had just rang.
I quickly stopped by my locker and grabbed my books before rushing to first period, which was cooking.
By the time I got there, everyone was seated but the teacher hadn't turned up yet.
I was going to go and sit with Dakota and her group, but I decided to sit away from them today.
I found an empty seat in the front row and in the middle. I sat down and grabbed my books and pens.
The rest of the class came in, followed by my teacher, Miss Winters.
"Okay class!" She said to get our attention. "We will be making chocolate brownies today! Simple and easy."
Everyone in the class said yes and high-fived each other and things. I just nodded happily.
"So there won't be enough ingredients for everyone to make their own, meaning you will need to get into groups or pairs." Miss Winters said and everyone in the class looked at each other. "When you are in your groups, you can come and get the ingredients here."
I sighed and watched everyone stand and gather into their groups. Waiting for the rush to die down, I was in a groups with myself.
Carefully and slowly, I made my way to the front and grabbed the ingredients I needed.
"Looks like you will working on your own Ave. You are okay with that right?" Miss Winters asked me softly.
"Of course! I have no problem with that." I answered back, followed by a sweet smile.
She smiled and then passed me the ingredients and I made my way to a station.
I didn't hear the classroom door open and the converstaion between the late student and our teacher. I was focused on reading the instructions on the board, even though the words a little blurry to read. I took my glasses off and wiped them on my shirt. I sighed softly and slid them back on. That's when Adam walked close to me.
'Oh hey there." I say casually and gave him a smile. "You're late"
Adam was in his uniform, his tie was a little crooked. His blonde hair was tussled a little and his blue eyes sparkled a little.
"Really? Didn't notice."He answered back sarcastically before looking down at the ground. "I was late because dad showed up this morning..." He pasued. "I had to make sure everything was alright."
And there it was. He just added another mystery to him that I could not figure out.
"Oh sorry. I didn't mean to sound all mean and stuff." U say nervously and tucked my red hair behind my ear.
"It's no problem." Adam said then shot me that glamorous smile. "Making brownies aye? Looks like you havn't gotten that far yet." I watche his mouth curve into a smirk.
"Whatever! i had to wait for the rush to die down otherwise i would've gotten trampled!" I quickly protested. I then turned around and started to measure the ingredients out.
I heard Adam chuckle as he stepped closer.
"Well, we are partners, so don't give me the cold shoulder alright?" He asked sweetly and it was my turn to smirk.
"You. In the kitchen? Just don't kill us all." I say and then we both burst out into laughter.
During the funny moment, I felt the icey stare of someone across the room. And who else would it be. Dakota of course.
"Dakota! Is this how you crack the eggs?" Ebony asked as Dakota turned and looked into the bowl. In the bowl was the complete egg, cracked and with the shells.
"EBONY!!"
❤
By the end of the period, all of the brownies were in the oven...even Dakota's crunchy ones.
Adam and I were cleaning up and to be honest, I was having a really good time. Just being so close to him made my heart flutter. I wasn't sure if he was feeliing the same way, but i could definately say that my heart is pounding like crazy.
"Ave, we're all done." He said to me and I simply grinned.
"Looks like the school's safe today." I tteased and he smacked my arm softly.
"Whatever. At least I didn't put the whole egg into the mixture." He murmered to me and i had to hold back a laugh.
"Okay class! You may all come back at recess or lunch and pick up your brownies! I will put them into a paper bag with your names on them. And don't worry. You'll only get the brownies that you made." Miss Winters said happily and everyone cheered.
School went by quickly and all the way to lunch. I went up to the cooking block and accidently ran into Dakota.
"Oh hey Dakota! How have you been?" I asked, only to recieve a glare by her as she stopped walking.
"What are you playing Averine?" She asked me coldly. "Going around and having the time of your life with my boyfriend!"
"Boyfriend?" I asked confused and I watched Dakota groan.
"Adam! He is my boyfriend!" She exclaimed loudly and I just stared at her. "We have been dating for a while now and you come in and ruin everything!"
i couldn't believe it. I didn't want too. Adam deserved someone better.
"You have it all wrong! Adam and I aren't dating or anything! You are imagining things." i quickly said and sighed a little. "I don't like him anyways. " I lied softly.
