Chapter ten: Save Ace

Gil POV

Scarlet snatched the newspaper away to read. Her eyes widened a fraction as she refused to tear her eyes away from the paper.

" Hey!" I yelled but she ignored me to continue reading.

" Scarlet? What's wrong?" I asked.

" No... No..!" She turned to me in horror." A-ace..! H-he's... h-he's gone get e-executed..!"

" W-what..?!" My head was a mess as I realized what she said.

" .... Gil...! He's going to be executed at Marineford. Gil we have to go help him!"

" But..-  What could we do anyway? Plus... it's too dangerous" I said solemnly.

" I'm sure the White Beard pirates and Luffy will try to save him! So we should help too!"

" but....- Oh.... Fine.... But how are we supposed to do that? We don't even know when the White Beard pirates or Luffy is gonna attack" I said sternly.

" Then we'll go to the White Beard pirates and ask them" she said almost proudly and that was how we ended up on the White Beard's ship.

" ...Uhhhh..." I said nervously, looking at all the weapons pointed at us. " This was a bad idea after all"

" Hello... Can we see White Beard?" Asked Scarlet.

" What do you want with us?" One of them asked quite menacingly.

" We ....want to help save Ace" replied Scarlet as the tension left their body a little.

" How do we know your not lying?" Another asked.

" Well... you'll have to find out yourselves" Scarlet answered with a small grin. A huge man came out as we could hear his loud footsteps.

" And you are?" The man asked.

" I'm Scarlet and this is Gilbert. Wewant to help save Ace" she said and the man paused as he hesitated.

" ... Why...?" He asked with suspicion.

" He's our friend" she said simply and he nodded.

" I'm White Beard" he finally introduced.... Wait what?!! He's White Beard. Actually, that's not that surprising. I sweat dropped at myself.

Scarlet POV

We went back to our small boat after talking with White Beard. They were going to attack during the execution. I would go in disguise as an executioner and Gil would attack with White Beard and his crew. I was sad that we had to separate. Just when we could finally see each other after twelve years.... but this is to save Ace.

I dressed myself as an executioner and waited for the execution to come. Getting nervous, I twirled my finger around each other. I finally get called for the execution. I walked nervously to the door and opened it to a bright light.
I saw a billion Marines and I'm not even kidding. Walking to Ace, I got ready the key. Once he saw me, his eyes widened and was about to say something when I mouthed him 'be quite'. He shut up after that. I picked up the the weapon. The other executioner swung the weapon as did I. It was about to touch Ace's neck but I used my spear thingie to swing the other one out of the executioner's hand. Everyone looked as the weapon clamoured onto the ground.

" What are you doing?!" Yelled Sengoku yelled angrily as I took my cap off. Everyone gasps as my red hair came loose.

" What are you doing here?" Asked Ace.

" Oh nothing! Just saving your butt" I replied with a cheeky smile as Sengoku attacked. I pushed Ace off of the platform and jumped off. I landed not so gracefully as I fell face first but luckily I didn't get hurt. Courtesy of my devil fruit powers. I stood back up as Sengoku attacked again I moved out of the way as well as Ace.

" Scarlet!" Screamed a familiar voice. Looking to see Luffy, I was about to say something when Ace screamed for me to move. I turned around to see Sengoku attacking. Oh crap.

Third person POV

She closed her eyes and waited for it to hit her. But she was swept off her feet.

"G-Gil?" She stuttered as they landed next to Ace.

" Are you okay?" He asked worriedly.

" Yeah, thanks to you" She said and smiled. Unbeknownst to her, Gil was blushing a deep red. As they continued talking, Sengoku's attacks. Akainu joined and sent meteorites falling down onto them.They kept dodging as Gil pulled Scarlet back to White beard's ship, leaving Ace.

" Gil..! What about Ace?!" The red head asked as Luffy runs to save Ace

" He'll handle it" Gil said reassuringly. Scarlet couldn't help but have a foreboding feeling in his stomach as they watched as Ace and Akainu fight. It was magnificent. At the end, there was fire and holes everywhere. Alas, the victor was Akainu. With a hole through his heart, Ace talks to his brother Luffy as the others fight. In shock, Luffy screams out and all Scarlet and Gilbert could do was watch in horror.
