1 Lucky Or Not?

"Thank you for spending your time being interviewed, Ms. Lee. We'll just call you by the day after tomorrow to know your schedule. Have a good day!"

Ugh! How many times do I have to hear those statements that would tell so much lies just to make me hope for nothing? I've wasted half a month on looking for a job now but still, nothing good has happened.

I don't know what's wrong with me nor my credentials? Is it because I'm overqualified or what?! Can't think of any reasons other than that.

This is really frustrating!
I complained to myself.

I'm about to lose hope and just go back home when my phone suddenly rang knowing that the person who's calling me is my best friend who has helped me a lot on finding a suitable job for me.

"Yeo--"

"Hyejin-ah! Eodiya?" She shouted on the other line which made me move my head away from my phone.

"Gosh, Hyuna! Can't you speak without shouting?! It's so annoying. And I'm already fcking tired of searching for a job." I took a deep sigh as I say those words to her.

"I'm sorry about that, Hyejin. It's just that I wanna tell you something."

"What is that?"

"I've just talked to my co-worker here whose aunt is working on an agency that sends a hundred of teachers all around Korea to teach in- or off-campus. I just thought this is an opportunity for you so I called you immediately after hearing that"

My moos turned so bright after hearing that good news from her.

"Aww. I'm so touched with what you've done for me, Hyuna. You're my angel in disguise."

"That's nothing. So, you in?"

"That's a once in a lifetime opportunity so I'd rather grab it than to wait for nothing." I said without having second thoughts about it.

"I knew it! Hihi. And one more thing, since I've already talked to her aunt earlier--"

"That fast?! Woah! You really love me, huh? Thank you so much!" I cut her out.

"Y-yeah, ofcourse! As I was saying, since I've already talked to her aunt about that matter, you're already hired and guess what? They have chosen you a particular area where you will be assigned to."

"Where is it then?"

"Uh.. Wait a sec."

I've waited for her to tell me the place since it seems like she's looking for the paper where the name of the place is written.

"Uh, Hyejin? I got it but.." She said like she's hesitant to tell me something.

"Where will I be assigned to, Hyuna?" I asked her like I can't wait for her answer any longer.

"It says that.. You will be assigned in..

DAEGU."

"Ahh. So, it's.. WHAAAAAT?!! D-DAEGU? As in DAEGU? Province?!!!" I said surprisingly. Well. That's all I can say after hearing the name of the place.

"Y-yeah. I just figured it out this time, too. Ugh! I didn't expect it, Hyejin. Believe me. I thought it was just around the city. I'm sorry but the saddest part is that there's no backing out this time. It's already been settled. You will be sent there next week."

"...."

I just can't speak at the moment. My mind is still trying to absorb what has happened today. Yeah.. It's good to know that I have found a job suitable for me but the thing is, I WILL BE SENT IN DAEGU. A province that is somewhat far from the city. And oh! There's no backing out now. I will be there next week. How great this life could be?

"Hyejin-ah! Are you still there?"

"*siiiiiigh* well, I guess that left me no choice but to just agree, right? Then I'll just take it."

"O-okay then. I'll text you the address of their agency for your contract signing tomorrow. I'll come with you if you want to." She said, trying to lessen the frustration that I'm feeling right now.

"No need, Hyuna. I'm fine with it. I'll just wait for the address later. Thank you!"

"Okay.."
