24 MEET MY PARENTS PT.2

"So, aren't you going to introduce us to your NEWLY FOUND FRIEND, princess?"

"D-dad, this is Kim Taehyung, my boyfriend. And Tae, this is my dad, Lee Jongsuk."

Dad was about to say something when Taehyung stood up and spoke.

"Hello, Mr. Lee. It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Kim Taehyung. I know this is too sudden but I hope I wouldn't give you bad impressions. I am the nephew of Ms. Kim Eunbi, the woman who has been responsible for the place she was staying in back there but I hope that won't give you the idea that I took that opportunity to flirt with her or anything. It's just that.. I have liked her even before I find out that she was sent there in Daegu to teach under my aunt's responsibility. Even she doesn't know anything about that. Don't think of me as rude person, Mr. Lee. I just wanted to clarify things first before letting you jump into conclusions that quite probably not accurate with what's going on between the two of us. Again, I'm Kim Taehyung and it's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Lee."

And that speech of his made all our jaws dropped, ladies and gentlemen!

Dad just stared at him in surprised and has lost words to say. I wonder what is going on in his mind right now.

Kim Taehyung, why do you keep on surprising me every single day? Even my family got surprised with what you've done right now.

Few minutes have passed but Taehyung is still doing a 90° bow to both my parents and my dad didn't even bother to speak.

"T-Taehyung-ah! You may sit down now."

As soon as I was trying to stop Taehyung from what he is doing, I turned to dad and glared.

"Appa! Aren't you doing anything? Aish!"

I can't believe this!

How could he do that to him?! To me?!

I decided to stand up and grab Taehyung's hand to get out of the house but he stood still which made me stop. I turned to him and gave him a what's-wrong-with-you-look.

"I'm fine. I want to hear what your parents have to say towards me, Hyejin."

"But---"

"You can sit now, Mr. Kim. Go back to your seat too, Lee Hyejin"

Dad finally speak and so I followed his command.

"So.. Would you like to tell me something about yourself, Mr. Kim? What kind of work do you have?"

"Well. I'm from Daegu, Sir. I was raised in a poor family who's work is all about farming. I've moved here in Seoul, particularly in Gangnam to be a trainee under BigHit Entertainment which made me what I am now. I don't want to brag about it Sir but I am an idol. I'm one of the members of the boy group BTS."

"Oh.. So, you're a celebrity. I see. Well, to tell you honestly Mr. Kim.. I don't like you. I know you're a good person, but not for my daughter. I am not questioning your family background here. I don't care if you were from a very rich family or not. What matters is that, I want someone who could make my daughter one of his priorities and not just an option."

"Appa!"

I almost teared up when I heard that Hyejin's dad doesn't want me for her. I didn't expect this to happen, well a part of me has expected it but not this way.

"Appa!" Hyejin suddenly exclaimed and stood up. I just held her hand to calm her down and gave her an it's-fine-don't-worry look. She looks like she's going to cry but I saw her biting her lip to stop her tears from falling down and just after a few seconds, she sat down.

I then turned my gaze to Mr. Lee and started to speak.

"Thank you for still telling me what's on your mind, Sir but to tell you frankly, I know I won't be that perfect guy for your daughter but I can assure you that I would be at least good to her and will never think of hurting her no matter what happens. There might be some times that I won't be able to check up on her but I'll make sure that she's the one whom I'm calling out for first whenever I have spare times."

"I understand that you don't like me for now because it's too sudden. But despite of that, I'm still thankful that you let me enter your house and be entertained. Again, thank you, Sir."

Phew! I admit it, I'm nervous and afraid. But I guess those words will only proved that I really love Hyejin and that no matter what they think of me, I would still show them how much I love their daughter.

That would be enough, right?

Right.
