Chapter 2. The big family secret.

Kieran's POV

I had no idea how I’m going to explain this to my mom. It’s almost 2.30 in the morning and my curfew was 12.00p.m. Obviously, truth is not going to work. 

Kieran Andrew Wakefield, where have you been? I was in the party. Ah Then Jackson and I got in to a fight and I ran to the woods.

Why did you fight with him? Because he broke up with Mia and he exposed their dirty little secret in front of the whole school. And I got pissed off.

What secret? ………………I can’t remember now. She is pregnant with…………….

What did you do in the forest for 4.00 hours? A female vampire drained blood from us, and then I did a deal with her and saved our lives.  Oh, she’s going to come for me in six years.

Are you losing your mind Kieran? If you ever say something like that ever again I’ll take you to a mental hospital.

Yeah, that’s how this is going to end if I tell them the truth. So I decided to go with lies. Thank god dad’s out of town. It was so like him. No one ever knew when he’s coming home or leaving.

However my lies will be safe with me. 

It was Drew's Dad woke me up from my sleep. He said I was sleeping like dead. Drew, Jackson and other two fools were up as well. So she hadn’t drain them dry.I saw by the small flash light in Drew's hand their wounds were just small  puncture gashes like mosquto bites.But none of them could recall what happened after they leave the party.

The front porch was decorated with jack-o'-lanterns as every Halloween. The door was closed, but the lights were on.That means they are waiting for me.

‘’GODDAMNIT’’. I cursed under my breath.

‘’I can explain’’ I said as soon as I entered the living room. But it was empty except Goofy. Mom’s stupid cat stared at me with the goofy expression that had named him.

‘’ They put you in the front line. How unusual’’

Then he started to run .Constantly meowing   like he wants me to come after him. He entered the kitchen and I followed. Some scarlet liquid covered my mom’s perfect kitchen floor. There she lay on the dead center of the mess covered with more blood. Her blank eyes were open and staring at the ceiling above.

I let out a hysterical scream. And keep screaming and screaming until the neighbors come.

Everything happened so fast, like someone clicked fast forward button. The police came and search the house. They didn’t even let me see Mia‘s body they found in her bed room. But according to what I overheard from our neighbors she had been brutally raped before death. Because dad was not home and I’ve got no close relative in the town, Sheriff send me to a foster home for the night.

The funeral was quiet and painful. It was more painful because we all knew we buried three people and mom will never know unless Mia told her about IT before her death.

Dad drove me home where half of our family died five days ago. We had Decided to leave this town tomorrow. But he said there’s something he wanted me to know before it. I didn’t want to go there, not this soon. But he yanked my hand and pushed me in to the basement.   

He grabbed me by both my shoulders.  ‘’ Do you know how your mother and sister died’’ he asked.

‘’A psychopathic  killer.’’ I told him what the police said after their investigation .If I could find that sonofabitch now; I don’t know what I will do to him.

‘’Yeah it was a psychopathic killer but not a human.’’ Dad lowered his voice.

‘’ Their  bodies were drained of blood Kieran. It was a vampire who killed them.’’ He seemed to shake with fury.

‘’there are no such things as vampires’ dad. It’s just a myth.’’ I had decided by that time, what happened  in the forest was just a dream or an illusion of my imagination.

Dad walked over to a wall of empty bottles and run his big fingers along the carved trim.

‘’Dad, you’re not going to tell me there’s a………..secret panel’’

I gasped with surprise when the wall swiveled out. He pushed the wall completely around before I could peek through the gap. Swords, axes, maces, daggers, scythes, tridents. Every manner of blade hung gleaming on the exposed wall. There were crossbows,long bows,even what I thought as quoits.

‘’What the hell.’’ Why would anyone hide these weapons that suit a museum in the basement of our house?  

‘’I promised your mom that I will never tell you about this until you finish your high school . But under current situation I think you deserve a chance to avenge your mom and sister.’’ Even as he spoke the words I could taste the bitter flavor of revenge in my mouth.

‘’But, how.’’ I asked.

‘’ You’re descendent from a long line of vampire hunters Kieran. These weapons are what your  ancestors collected throughout the ages. I was slaying vampires since I was 12, So was my brothers and my father and his father before him. A vampire killed my first wife Mia’s mom, And now, Anne and my daughter. I’m going to kill the entire vampire race for this. You can join me if you want or I’ll send you to Aunt Jenna tomorrow, your choice.’’ What am I suppose   to say when my dad suddenly said something like that.

But I knew what I'll ever want from the moment I saw my mom’s lifeless body laying on the floor.

‘’I’ll come with you.’’ Dad gave me a nod of approval.

"You are about to take a decision that will change your life forever, son. But remember the lessons that we learn from pain, from lose are the ones that make us the strongest.. Take time and think, you can give me your final answer in tomorrow morning.’’

‘’ No, I know what I want .This is my final decision.’’ I answered in a firm voice. Dad gave me a pat on my head and took a heavy sword from the wall.

‘’ Okay then choose your weapon, your training begins tonight’’
