Darina’s POV

I was never comfortable in a court meeting, and today was worst. You have to be a good listener as

well as a good leader in such a place. I was neither as both my mind and heart was fully

preoccupied by one person and him alone.

Sometimes i wish i could live inside Cornelia's head instead of mine.It must be very restful place there.

I found the library and flinched in disgust, the place looked worst than Imre’s

den. Layers of dust taller than empire state covered the four staggered tiers of

books. They towered to the domed ceiling where cobwebs were hanging like

curtains.

Then I saw Cornelia; sitting behind a white Marble table burying herself in books. She looked like

she’s lost in another world, so I decided to give her a taste of her own.

I moved closer to her in vampire speed.

‘’boo’’

She screamed and merely lifted a hand, and I was knocked back to the door

way.

‘’Shit’’ I was back on my feet in a millisecond.

‘’You asked for it.’’ She was still glaring at me.

‘’ You are lucky I didn’t turn you in to a rabbit.’’

‘’ Found anything.’’ I asked ignoring her hostile glare.

There was a very awkward silence between us for a few seconds. Then she nodded and gestured

me to sit next to her.

‘’ Imre had lived like a pig, but he’ve stocked the most amazing library in the

world, most of these books are exquisite first copies lost to the world. Well,

he’ve had thousand years collect them.’’

She said staring at the books like they were her beloved children.

‘’Back to the subject Miss. Nerdy.’’

I was so anxious to know what’s wrong with my mate, though a small part of me warned its better

not to know.

‘’Okay, your mate is not human. You can stop your food exile and start killing humans again.’’

It’s true I stopped fully draining humans dry when I found out my mate was one of them, but it’s not

like I can start doing it again, not without  pissing him off and ending our relationship even before it

started. Kieran think I killed his loved ones if what Cornelia’s telling me the truth.

Only a small part of my brain registered that thought, all other parts were occupied by what she just

said.

‘’Not human.’’

‘’Yeah, that’s what I said girlfriend. He is not human and he never was………. kinda. It’s very

complicated’’

''You'll never belive what i just found.''

I was ready to ask her explain more, but we were interrupted by heavy foot fall of soldiers.

Two castle guards came running in to the room and bowed to me.

‘’Your Majesty, we are under attack.’’ The copper head muttered in an urgent voice.

‘’What, who’s attacking us.’’

‘’King Radomir’s army.’’  Answered the other one.

‘’How many.’’ There goes my peaceful day, just my luck.

‘’Seven hundred, may be a thousand.’’ I internally sigh in relief. The situation is not bad as I thought.

It surprised me at first, how my dear Radomir recovered from his last failure and circled his troop

this soon. That male is full of surprises, and he’s so wickedly gorgeous too.

‘’ post the archers on the top of the wall. The gates stay locked and no one is to pass them until I

command it.’’ The guards bowed and hurried out.

‘’ Cornelia, go to Ino and tell her to get Kieran, three of you are to leave the castle from the back if we

are falling. Promise me you’ll look after him.’’ What if I’ll never see him again?

‘’You are being overprotective.’’

‘’Whatever.’’ I said and rushed out after the guards.
