Kieran’s POV

’’Where the hell are we going.’’?

I asked Cornelia for the seventh time when we entered a gloomy courtyard surrounded on three

sides by stables.

‘’You are going to get what you always wanted……….freedom’’

I stared at her with my mouth hanging open.

‘’You are helping me to escape. But I thought you guys are best friends.  ’’

What am I saying; I should be eternally thankful for Cornelia for freeing me from this lair of

vampires.

But here I am questioning the girl who’s going to save me about her sanity and conscience.

‘’Don’t push your luck Kieran. This might be the last chance you’re going to get.’’

She started to walk towards the stables.

The big Amazon like woman shoved me to follow Cornelia’s lead. God, I feel so naked without my

weapons.

We passed hundred or so stalls in to the far end of the stables. A midnight black stallion stood in

the last of three stalls. It gave my heart hard and happy leap to see it. 

The guard saddled a brown horse near the stallion while Cornelia messed with a steel door at the

end of the stables.

‘’I’ve never ridden a horse, so if you are planning a classical horseback escape it’s not going to

work.’’

‘’oh, no. Ino is going somewhere else. And for us two, I’ve chosen much more comfortable mode of

traveling.’’

 The door opened to reveal a stone floor and  four cars. Not just some cars, all of them were

under the tags of Mercedes, jaguar, Porsche and McLaren.

She opened the passenger side door of the black jaguar and gestured me to get in. She scowled

when I hesitated to get inside.

‘’ Don’t worry, I’m a good driver.’’

 ‘’It’s not like I doubt your driving skills Cornelia, but you still have an explanation to do. ‘’I said

looking straight in her eyes. ‘’Like, why you are helping me.’’

‘’Things aren’t happening the way we wanted Kieran; this place is no longer safe. With your gift you

wouldn’t need ino’s help to survive. But you don’t know anything about yourself yet, so I’m going to

come with you for now’’

‘’What do you mean my gift, and what the hell’s happening here.’’ As an answer to my second

question a loud bang rocked and rattleed the stables. It sounded like an explosion.

‘’Get in, we have to go now.’’

She yelled at me. But I couldn’t move my legs as I’m rooted to the ground. Why am I feeling like I’m

going to miss a train.

‘’I’m not going anywhere until you tell me what’s going on.’’

Something really bad is going to happen; I can almost smell it in the air. My instincts are warning

me about something. Someone I love is in grave a danger, but who. Dad, Uncle Toni, Goofy

…………. Darina.

‘’Darina, where is she.’’ I almost shouted.

‘’ I’ll tell you everything, but promise me not to do anything stupid, Okay.’’

‘’Just tell me soon.’’

‘’We are under attack. She‘s with the soldiers who are protecting the castle from the front, she’s not

the kind of queen who leaves her soldiers behind and going to fight until the last male falls. So

she’s not going to come with us.’’ 

She said in quickly while playing with the controllers on the dashboard.

‘’Will she be okay.’’

Cornelia looked at me in the eyes. ‘’These no point in lying to you, so I’ll tell you the truth’’

Ino tried to stop me when I started to run. But she was not fast enough .No it was because you were

super fast. Some internal voice in my head whispered. I knew it was true, but couldn’t stop myself to

examine the difference.  My mate is in danger.

‘’She’s in danger, maybe she’s already dead.’'

Those words filled in to my mind until where was no place in it for any logical reasoning.

No, she is not dead. I would have felt it.

‘’I could see arrows flying here and there when I finally reached the top of the walls. I was far behind

the soldiers so they didn’t saw me coming. I didn’t care helping them to fight off whatever the

creatures they were fighting. I had eyes only for Darina at that moment.

But I’ve yet to see her unmasked. If what they say about sole mates are true I’ll recognize her even if she was covered with layers of tar.

And that theory was amazingly true.

Just the minute I saw the platinum blonde goddess, magnificent with a bow and quiver in her hand

I knew she’s my mate. I started to run, impatient to feel her safe in my arms. But a man with long

black hair and wore a robe of the same color appeared from behind my mate.

‘’Darina? There’s………...’’

I couldn’t give her proper warning before that creep disappeared with my mate.

No, the word screamed through my mind, but didn’t come out of my mouth as my leg bones broke

and I fall to the ground. Yeah. That’s how it felt like. All the bones in my body started to break and

shift in to different lengths or sizes.

‘’Please, not now. I have to go save my mate.’’

Hate and fear bloomed in me while my body made any moving impossible.

But I was sure about one thing, if I couldn’t do anything right now, I’ll never see her ever again.
