You gulped nervously as you tied Bucky's tie. "You're shaking, Doll. You alright?" You nodded, finally noticing your trembling hands. "I'm fine. I just...it's my first undercover mission. What if I screw up?" Bucky patted you hand. "You won't. You're gonna be just fine. Just breathe and tell yourself that you are your cover, not Agent Y/L/N." You took a deep breath and nodded. "Alright, let's go!" You were nervous, but you knew that you had Bucky to help you if you needed him.

You were silent all the way to the venue. Your job: distract the target while Bucky retrieved the information. Sounds simple enough, but this was your first mission of this caliber. When you were first assigned the mission, you tried to convince Bucky to be the distraction, but apparently he wasn't the target's type. You were. As the car pulled up, you took another deep breath and mentally prepared yourself.

Once inside, Bucky gave your arm a squeeze and leaned in to whisper in your ear, "Over there." Your eyes scanned the room and found your target. You gave Bucky a nod and made your way over. "Hi there," you greeted, putting on your fake Southern accent. According to the team, it was your most adorable and alluring accent because it was subtle, but enough to make you stand out. Your target eyed you up and down before a smile spread on their face. Within two minutes of talking, the target asked you to dance.

You nervously accepted and moved to the dance floor. As you swayed, your eyes darted around the room, looking for Bucky. While he hadn't said anything, you knew Bucky was as nervous as you were. What you didn't know was that he was nervous for a very different reason. He was nervous because he was worried you'd be hurt if things went sideways. He liked you and he didn't want to see you in pain. He did his part of the job as quickly as possible so you could both get out of there and go back to the safety of the Tower.

Bucky rounded the corner and gazed around the room for you. When he found you, his jaw clenched. The target had you in their arms and they were whispering something in your ear. The look on your face changed from a coy smile to one of shock and dismay. Bucky saw the silver glint of a knife and moved to assist you, but before he could take more than five steps you had not only disarmed the target, but you had them on the ground writhing in pain.

Your eyes met Bucky's across the room and indicated that the two of you should leave. "They attacked me with a knife!" your pretend Southern accent carried across the room. You left the crowd, pretending to cry as you ran over to Bucky. "Did you get it?" you whispered to him. At Bucky's nod, you took his hand and lead him from the room and back out to the car. Inside, you and Bucky began laughing almost uncontrollably.

"You were great, Y/N! How did disarm them so quickly?" You gestured to the thick bracelet on your wrist. "Borrowed Natasha's taser bracelet." That sent you into another fit of giggles. "Good thinking. How'd they make us is what I want to know?" You shrugged. Bucky watched you, just thankful that you both made it out safe. "Once I tell Steve, you'll probably be on undercover missions more often," he told you. You let out a huff and leaned into Bucky. "I guess as long as I'm partnered with you, I'll be okay." Bucky threw his arm around your shoulder and pulled you close. He pressed a kiss to your temple. "I think that can be arranged, Doll. I am so proud of you."
