A loud crash from a few rooms down made you jump. "What the heck?" you asked out loud even though no one else was in the room. You got up and opened your door just in time for Tony to come rushing past you. "I knew it was a bad idea to give him a lab!" he grumbled and you realized that the crash had come from Loki's lab. Quickly, you followed Tony down the hall, barely hearing the frantic footfalls of the others approaching as well.
When you reached Loki's lab, you found Loki on the floor and he appeared to be asleep. Tony glanced around, making sure there was no glass in the room before going to check on Loki. "Hey, Reindeer Games! Wake up!" Loki didn't stir. Your eyes widened in panic. Tony reached over and felt for a pulse. "He's alive, but he's not waking up. Where's Bruce?"
Bruce ambled over. "Looks like he knocked himself out. Only thing to do is make him comfortable until he wakes up." Your brows furrowed as you gazed around the room. What had Loki been doing when he knocked himself unconscious? Thor picked Loki up and carried him to his room. The rest of the team followed, but you stayed behind. It wasn't like Loki to be careless with his magic, not anymore.
You looked over Loki's desk, but didn't find anything other than his open book. Your brows furrowed when you realized that it wasn't a spell book, but the book of fairytales you'd lent him instead. Shrugging it off, you continued to search for clues, but you came up empty handed. You sighed in defeat as you left the room and walked toward Loki's.
"Has he woken up yet?" you asked Thor who was coming out of the room. The blond shook his head. "No. But give him time. When we were children, he once used too much magic in one day and ended up sleeping all night and the next day. I am certain he shall wake tomorrow and be his usual self." You smiled and nodded. "Alright, Thor. I'll see you later."
Loki wasn't awake the next day. Or the next day. Or the day after that. In fact, Loki slept for nearly two weeks. You were all puzzled as to why the raven-haired god refused to wake. "Maybe he's just playing one of his tricks. It is Loki, after all," Bruce suggested, but you and Thor both shook your heads. "No. Loki would not worry us like this. Particularly not Lady Y/N." That was true. You and Loki had gotten close. You were practically best friends. "I'm really worried, guys. What if he never wakes up?"
Bruce gave your shoulder a pat. "Alright. Let's think. Had Loki been acting strange before this happened?" You shrugged. "Not really. He came to my room earlier that day. He was asking all sorts of questions about Earth literature. He has a new interest every week. This week was fairy tales...oh my god," you whispered the last part before you shot up from your chair and ran toward Loki's lab.
The book of fairytales was still sitting on the desk, but it was only when you picked it up that you realize two pages had been marked. You left the lab and returned to the living room where the others were still sitting, dumbfounded. You opened the book to the first marked page. Snow White. Confused, you flipped to the next. Sleeping Beauty. Your eyes nearly bugged out of your skull in realization.
"Hey, Y/N? You wanna share with the rest of the class?" Sam quipped. "Loki's marked two stories in my book. Two stories with something in common. Snow White and Sleeping Beauty." The others exchanged glances. "I remember Snow White. Evil Queen sends a huntsman to kill her and she runs away. The Queen finds out and poisons her with an apple." You nodded.
"Yes, but she's not dead. She's sleeping. Same thing in Sleeping Beauty. The princess pricks her finger on a spinning will and falls into a deep sleep." You couldn't believe no one was helping you out. "So what can we do?" You groaned loudly, running your hand over your face.
"Don't you people watch Disney?! True love's kiss is the only thing that can wake him up." Sam held up his hands in surrender. "Well, I'm certainly not kissing Reindeer Games," Tony declared loudly and the others agreed. "Guys...we can't just leave him asleep. He's family now." Thor came to your side and rested a large hand on your shoulder. "He is indeed. Perhaps you should try, Y/N."
You felt your face heat up. "M-Me? Don't be ridiculous. I'm not Loki's true love." The statement nearly broke your heart to say, but you felt it was the truth. "You won't know unless you try." The rest of the team all made noises of agreement and you sighed. "Alright. I'll try." You closed the book and left the living room. You heard the sounds of the others following behind you. "Really?" Tony grinned. "Yeah. This I gotta see. Besides, if it works, none of the rest of us will have to kiss him." You groaned again, but continued your trek.
It seemed to take no time at all to get to Loki's room. Taking a deep breath, you opened the door. Loki was still sound asleep on the bed. In fact, he hadn't even really moved. You slowly approached the bed and sat on the edge next to Loki. You bit your lip as you leaned down slightly before stopping. What if it didn't work? Or worse, what if it did and Loki didn't feel the same for you? Shaking off the negative thoughts, you pressed your lips to his cold ones.
It was a short and sweet kiss. You pulled back quickly. Loki hadn't moved. You felt your heart deflate and you turned your face away. You couldn't look at him. You felt a cool hand touch yours and you whipped your head back around to see Loki smiling at you. He sat up slowly, his eyes never leaving yours. Before you realized what was happening, his lips had enveloped yours in a passionate kiss.
"Aw," a chorus of voices rang out. "I told you it would work," Thor's voice boomed. You pulled away from Loki and rolled your eyes. "And cue moment ruined." You glanced over to doorway where the entire team was crowded. "Ever heard of privacy, guys?" you asked sarcastically. Loki's hand came up to cup your face. "Let them look, darling. I want them all to remember that you are my true love." With that, he kissed you again.
Despite your friends lingering in the door way, the moment was perfect. Until Loki's stomach growled. Laughing, you pulled back again. "Come on, let's get you something to eat and then you can tell me what the heck you were thinking." Nodding, Loki rose from the bed and took your hand in his. As everyone made the short journey to the kitchen, Loki couldn't help but smile. His spell hadn't had the intended effect, but the result was still the one he'd wanted. He had shown you that you were meant to be. For once, Loki was glad his spell had gone wrong.
