Sarah's POV.

I sat at my desk and checked my emails on my computer, waiting for Lily. I kind of knew she was lying last night when she said her cat hurt her.

"Hey." I heard Lily enter in a chirpy mood.

I turned my head and smiled, I was so pleased to see her and I don't know why. "Hey!" I smiled, rolling my chair and standing up to greet her.

She sat down at the desk in front of my desk and smiled. She had her hair down and it was natural wavy, I was so jealous she had such gorgeous hair. I brought over the files from yesterday and handed them to her. "Thank you for helping me." I say.

"No problem." She smiles before starting the papers.

I didn't realise that I was staring at her, until she looked up at me and furrowed her brows. "What?" She laughed.

"What really happened to your face?" I ask, trying to sound more sympathetic than creepy.

Her facial expression changed from smiling to a frown, "I already told you what happened." She said bluntly.

"Lily, you're a terrible liar. I know your cat didn't scratch you." I said, sitting down next to her.

"Miss. Paulson, I told you what happened so just leave it." She said, turning her head away from me.

I cupped her cheek and moved her face to see the cut, surprisingly she didn't stop me. "Lily, this isn't a cat scratch. It's bruised over." I calmly say, trying to get answers.

All of a sudden I saw tears brim in her eyes. "H-he didn't mean to, it was an accident."

My eyes widened at this. Is she being abused? How could someone hurt her, she seemed like such a kind hearted person. "Lily." I sigh. "Who did this to you?"

"My.. Um, my boyfriend." She said quietly as a tear falls down her cheek. My heart broke at this point, I felt so much anger build up inside of me. I can't believe somebody would do this to her.

"Lily, I'm so sorry. Why are you with this guy if he treats you like this? It isn't right." I tell her, placing my hand on top of hers.

She looks directly into my eyes and shakes her head, "I-I don't know."

I felt sad inside, but also kinda glad that she told me because it shows that she can trust me. "I'm sorry I made you bring this up, Lil. I should've kept my nose out."

"It's OK, don't worry." She sniffled. "I guess it's good to talk to somebody about it. So I don't feel so alone."

She is honestly the most precious person, I can't help but feel for her. "I know it's none of my business, but you should leave him, Lily." I couldn't help but pull her in for a hug, which was really unprofessional of me.

"It's not that simple." She managed to murmur against my shoulder. I could feel her wet tears on my bare skin. I understood what she meant, it would be hard to leave an abusive relationship.

"Oh, Lily. What are we going to do with you." I hugged her, stroking her hair. "You do understand, I have to tell somebody. I can't just let you carry on this way."

She immediately pulled out of the hug and her eyes widened and stared at me. She shook her head quickly. "N-no, you can't. You can't tell anyone, please don't." She panicked. "It'll only make things worse, Miss. Paulson."

"But Lily, if I don't then who knows how far this will go and what will happen to you. I'd never forgive myself if something happened to you." I explain, speaking softly. She just looks at me, I could tell she was scared.

"Please. Please, don't. I'm begging you from my soul." She whispers, almost crying.

I didn't want anything else to happen, but I didn't want to upset Lily. This was so hard for me, but just looking into how deep her eyes were begging made me question my decision. I slowly nodded, "Okay, Lily. I won't tell anybody. But, you have to tell me everything that happens." She sighs in relief and nods.

I grab a spare piece of paper from the desk and write down some numbers. "This is extremely unprofessional of me, but here is my number. I need you to call or text me if anything happens. Anything at all, promise?"

She looks at the paper and takes it from my hand. "I promise." She smiles.

"Good." I say, turning my head to the clock above the blackboard. "Oh god, is that the time already? I have to leave in 5 minutes to pick Grace up." I say, standing up. It didn't feel like it but we had been talking for almost an hour.

Lily also stands up, wiping her cheeks. "Thank you, Miss. Paulson."

As I gather my things I look at her. "What for?" I smile.

"For caring." She smiles and nods, walking towards the door. I smile at her comment, feeling something inside me flutter.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Lil." I say softly, still gazing into her eyes from afar.

"Goodbye." She smiles sweetly before walking out.

...

As I get in my car ready to go home, I see a car in front of me going the opposite direction to me. I buckle my seatbelt and pull out of my parking space carefully when the car comes racing past, almost hitting me. I immediately press the breaks harshly. "Shit!" I curse.

"Fucking watch it, you stupid bitch!" I hear a man yell at me. Then I see Lily in the passenger seat of the car and my mouth opens in shock. She awkwardly looks at me, I push my glasses up and divert my gaze away from them waiting for them to drive past. Oh, Lily. He is an asshole.
