The truck was filled with Connor's chattering teeth, his panting, Jen's quiet shushing, and Scott's fingers continuous tapping on the steering wheel.

We had taken the exit of the highway and were sitting in none other than the St. Mary's Hospital parking lot.

As you could have guessed, the sound and sight of the truck entering the parking lot had caught the attention of a few zombies. Not so much that we were worried about having to call it a crowd or a horde, but enough that were going to have a struggle getting out of the truck. A few were outside of my door, groaning and scraping their fingers on the glass of the window.

I couldn't stop this aching feeling in my chest from growing as I looked at them. To me they were living dead, flesh eating, vile looking creatures. They were nobody to me. But who were they to someone else? Were they mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, or even friends? Surely someone was missing these things. These people. No matter how much they didn't mean to me, they used to mean a whole lot to someone else. And that thought did mean something to me.

"He's getting worse." Jen said, her voice laced with desperation and irritation. Tucker meowed in hunger at no one in particular and I cringed with the thought of what we'd do with him.

She was referring to Connor and we all knew it. Demi stopped chewing on her thumb nail long and looked over her shoulder at Jen and Connor in the back seat. She then looked up at Scott questioningly.

"We've got to get him medicine. For his sake and for everyone else as well." She said and I nodded and before adding onto her statement.

"We can't afford for even one more of us to get sick Scott."

Scott eyed me quickly before looking away and clearing his throat.

"Okay, this is how it's about to go. Amy, Demi, you guys will both come with me into the hospital. Jen, you have to stay in the truck with Connor, you have to be the one to drive the truck up to the Emergency Room entrance when it's time." Scott threw out instructions as fast as he could, confirming with Jen before looking back at Demi and I.

"We have to get out of the truck as fast as we can, the duffle bag is still in the back so we have options for defending ourselves but we need to keep this quick and quiet. No guns. There are a couple of modern melee weapons back there but we've got to be hasty with decisions. We don't know anything about here. Therefore here is dangerous. Got it?" He asked with a pointed look.

Demi and I both nodded. I gripped the handle of my door, staring up at the two zombies that were still outside of it, growling and slamming against the glass of the window. A single thought passed through my mind, the thought about how these used to be people and I my body tensed with my epiphany. Used to be people. Used to be. No longer.. people.

Just as I came to terms with the fact that these were nothing more than flesh-eating vessels for the disease Scott threw his door open, his side zombie-free. The panic lasted for a mere second before I threw my door open as well, shoving as hard as I could into the dead. They stumbled backwards and I jumped out of the car with Demi in tow while they were balancing themselves.

"Amy!" Scott yelled suddenly.

I had just looked over when I saw the object flying towards me. I barely caught it with my clammy hands before holding it in the correct position. A crowbar. Perfect. I glanced over to assure myself that both my friends had weapons and was, thankfully, greeted with the sight of Demi holding a baseball bat and Scott holding an axe. We ran for the Hospital entrance, the commotion having had gained the attention of several zombies. However, mostly were still far off so I didn't doubt that the trip out would be worse than the trip in.
