The room was silent and the hard cot I was sitting on was making my bottom ache. I had my arms folded across my chest trying to find some form of comfort as my bare feet trembled against the cold tile flooring. The room itself was cold, small, and bathed in a blinding white paint that I completely and utterly hated. It made the whole situation that much more real.

I glanced over at my leather jacket that was sitting next to me on the cot, on top of it was my scrunchy and my silver, cross necklace. I had taken it off during when I had gone to shower because they insisted on throwing the rest of my clothing away. They had gone on and on about contamination and bacteria but I hadn't done anything but nodded silently. That is until they tried to take my leather jacket.

Lukas had gotten it for me two years prior while he had been in L.A. with Scott and a couple other friends of his. I remember how big it had been at the time and how I assured him that I'd grow into it. He had smiled at me and told me not to grow up too fast. That this life was important and meant to be lived thoroughly and that it would end all before I knew it if I rushed things.

He died a year and two months later and I still had know idea what had happened exactly. Scott was really the only one who knew. Of course he explained whatever it was to my parents and they hadn't let me see him at all. In fact, they made sure the funeral was a closed casket one.

My heart throbbed at the memory and I reached out to pluck up the necklace in my fingers before simply staring at it for what felt like hours but I realized was only minutes after a knock sounded on my room door.

I looked up when it opened on its own and Demi peeked her head inside with a small wave.

"Hey." She said and walked right in when I patted the spot next to me, closing the door behind her.

"You okay?" She asked with a nudge to my shoulder with her own once she situated herself next to me on the awful cot.

"Mm, I'm not really sure anymore. This all feels like a terrible nightmare that I can't wake up from."

She nodded in understanding before sighing and getting quiet then speaking again.

"Amy... I have to sleep with someone I don't know here." She breathed out and let her face fall into her hands.

Her statement had me freezing in reminder of our predicament and my thoughts briefly wandered over to Scott and it all became too much. I couldn't sleep with my best friend's brother as some sort of population growth experiment!

"This is a human breeding facility Demi." I deadpanned as my heart sunk even further.

Was this real?

She seemed to read my thoughts as she answered with,"This can't be real! I feel like we're in some TV drama."

I squeezed my eyes shut as I tried to understand it all.

"I have to sleep with your brother."

It slipped out without my knowledge, my voice barely above a whisper.

Demi looked over at me with a determined look on her face,"My brother won't do a thing you don't consent to Ames. He's a good guy and no matter what threats are made to him, he wouldn't hurt you."

My heart skipped a beat at that.

Of course he wouldn't hurt me. I knew Scott was a decent guy and honestly I'd known him most of my life. There was so much off though. We had an odd tension between us that I didn't know how to get rid of. In fact, I didn't know what had put it there to begin with.
