"So, we need to make a list of things that we should be worried about having." Scott addressed the group. I blinked and looked around the truck. Everyone looked so tired. I know I certainly felt tired. I wanted to crawl back into bed and pretend none of this was happening.
"Food and water," Demi said, crossing her arms uncomfortably,"I'm really hungry Scott. We all are."
Scott looked to his younger sister worriedly. "I know Demi. Anything else?"
Connor spoke up then,"Gasoline for the truck. I mean, it's not going to run forever. The gas tank was blinking when we pulled in here last night."
Scott nodded,"Okay, gasoline, food, water..is that all?"
A murmur escaped Jen's lips and we all looked to her.
"What did you say Jen?" I asked, for none of us heard her.
She sighed,"I said we need to get going. We have to get supplies AND get back on the road while avoiding everything that wants to kill us in the process. We have no time to waste. We don't have that luxury anymore."
I flicked my gaze up to Scott, who met mine right back. We both understood what she was saying as the complete and utter truth. We needed to get back on the road.
Molly and Max, who had been quiet up to now stood up.
Max threw the toothpick he had been chewing on, outside a window. "Lets go."
"Are you freaking crazy?" I hissed, my hands clenching against the strap of my bag.
"It's our only option." He told me, and walked off to keep up with the others in the group. I ran to catch up.
We all stopped around the truck.
"You guys ready to go shopping?" Scott asked, a dangerous smirk covering his features.
He threw his thumb over his shoulder at the abandoned Stop & Shop across the street. There was a gas station and a convenience store. Perfect.. Besides the fact that the area had about 50 zombies just stumbling and staggering around.
Demi, Jen, Molly and I wore matching expressions of fear and shock. While Connor, Max and Scott couldn't seem to hide the excited grins on their faces. Guys are all idiots. Even in the zombie apocalypse.

"You expect us to just stay in the car?" Demi argued with her brother.
Scott rolled his eyes,"Yes, I do. I've got back-up okay? I'll be fine little sis."
Demi didn't look happy but she yanked him down to her level where she was seated in the back of the truck.
"Be careful." She murmured into his neck and he nodded, hugging her against his chest firmly. I swallowed and turned away from them, meeting Connor's gaze. He smiled tiredly at me and I crooked a finger at him. He set down his gun and walked over to me, pulling me into a big bear hug.
I smiled even as my eyes welled up with tears. This could all go terribly wrong. They could all die. But this could also go exactly as planned. They would keep each other safe, grab what we needed and get back to us. I hope it worked out that way.
"I love you Ames. We'll be fine though. We'll get in and out." Connor whispered into my hair.
My fingers curled themselves into v-neck tee, holding on for dear life.
"Yea, you better." I whispered back, looking up at him.
He leaned down quickly, placing a chaste kiss on my lips before I could do anything. He pulled back and let go of me. I stood there like a statue. He cleared his throat and walked to the bed of the truck, picking up his gun.
"You ready guys?" Connor asked. Max let go of his histerically crying sister and Scott nodded, pulling away from Demi. Jen just sat in the back seat, staring at her feet, tears slipping out of her eyes one by one.
The guys headed out before I could blink. Scott turned back once to look at me. His eyes blazed, like he was trying to tell me something. His jaw tightened. He looked away and kept walking.
I got into the truck with the other girls and locked the doors. Be safe guys.
