"He really is super cute, Amy." Molly started up, using her finger as a toy for Tucker to play with.

I smiled warmly at the two and looked up at Scott, who was watching me intently. I blushed a little and cleared my throat.

Tucker, was the name I had chosen for the small black kitten that Scott found. He was playful and had these strange pale blue eyes. Beautiful, yet unusual. But, then again, finding a kitten unharmed in a zombie apocalypse was unusual.

"Amy?" Molly asked curiously.

"Hm?"

"Are you and Scott a couple?" She wondered aloud, in that small innocent voice of hers.

I paled instantly, looking down at my lap and then blushing. Connor choked on his pop tart and quickly washed it down with a swig of mountain dew. Scott simply let his gaze float over to meet Molly's and then said something that had me snapping my attention back to him.

"We will be." He assured her and then met my gaze, blue on blue, with confidence. I spared a glance a Connor who narrowed his eyes at Scott and got up, wiping his jeans off and stalking away.

"Where are you going?" Jen called, "Stay with the group Connor!"

But he was already gone.

I sighed,"That was interesting."

Scott shrugged,"Okay, turn off your lanterns. Goodnight girls, Max.. Tucker.." Then rolled over in his sleeping bag and went to sleep.

Jen rubbed her arms uncomfortably,"He shouldn't be alone." She murmured, staring in the direction Connor had gone off in.

"If he's not back in ten, I'll go get him. Okay?" I told her and she nodded.

"Goodnight Amy." Jen whispered.

"Night Ames!" Demi cooed.

Max grunted and rolled over and soon, everyone was asleep. And still no Connor. I groaned quietly and kissed a purring Tucker's head before getting up to go find him.

"You're not going." Scott's voice commanded, making me jump.

"Christ, you were supposed to be sleeping!" I hissed. He was leaning up on one elbow watching me with mischievous blue eyes that had me blushing in the dimness of the light coming from the only lantern on.

"Connor's a big boy, he can watch himself." Scott murmured, glancing around the small area we had designated 'Camp Zombie Survivors'. It was that or 'Fort Soon To Die' compliments of Connor. It's safe to assume the first won out.

"It's not right and you know it!" I said firmly before turning on my heel and heading toward the food and drinks section of the store. The same direction Connor had gone.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

The sound of glass breaking alerted me of someone's presence in the beverage aisle other than myself.

"Connor?" I whispered into the darkness, the only light coming from the row of refrigerators in the next aisle over.

"Shut up!" He growled low in his throat, making me freeze. Half of his face appeared out of the shadows and his eyes burned through me like fire. In his right hand was a bottle of Tequila, three-fourths of the way already gone.

"Connor.. Put it down." I told him calmly.

"You look pretty Amy. You have always been pretty, even when I was only ten years old.. I thought you were the prettiest girl I'd ever seen. Then you moved and we meet up again.. but you have that pretty boy hanging by your side now.." Connor sneered, taking a large swig of the alcohol, almost finishing off the bottle.

My breath was starting to shake and I took a step back. Connor's eyes were different.. He was totally gone at this point. Drunk enough to seriously hurt someone without thinking about it but sober enough to do it without passing out or stumbling on his feet.

I turned to run but his hand closed over my wrist and he pressed his chest flush against my back making me wince.

"I've wanted you for so long.. You were always the greatest Amy. Everyone wanted to be your friend and you never denied them of that right. God.. Your skin.." He trailed off and nuzzled under my ear and breathed on me. My nose burned with the smell of the alcohol of his breath.

I was scared now. He was my friend.. but right now he could do things to me without a second thought. He was strong and fast.

"Let go of her, right now." The steely voice came from the the beginning of the aisle and Scott stepped into view.

He had a gun in his hand and it was pointed at Connor's head. That was when all three of us heard it.

Groaning and raspy growling.

Connor loosened his grip on me and turned around to see two Target cashier zombies, stumbling toward us in a hungry frenzy.

"Amy!" Jen's voice screamed from the other side of the store and I paled, turning to Scott and tugging on his sleeve.

"Get Connor please!" I begged.

Connor seemed to be contemplating whether or not the zombies could hurt him. They could kill him.

"He won't listen to me!" Scott growled back and I smacked his arm.

"Be creative, Scott! We have to go, the others are in trouble!" I screamed, starting to panic.

He sighed and marched forward, gripping the back of Connors shirts and punching him in the face. Connor groaned and lost his footing just as Scott hauled him onto a shoulder and grabbed my hand with the other.

"Time to go!" Scott informed me obviously. We ran as fast as we could with Connor dangling off of Scott's shoulder and got to the camp in time to see Jen and Demi running off in one direction and Max holding onto his shoulder with one hand, shooting a zombie through the head and yelling for his sister.

Molly. When my eyes found Molly a sob ripped through my throat and I turned a buried my face in Scott's chest.

Molly's throat was ripped out and her stomach was torn open, one of those things eating her. Max shot it through the head with a ferocious roar. All got quiet as the last zombie fell dead and Molly's lifeless brown eyes stared into space. Max dropped to his knees beside her and cradled her limp body to his chest, sobbing and yelling her name.

Dear God, help us.
